Lost the installation CD

The video file contains when changing the extention .mp4 into .pdf the complete manual.

When I go to the Canon site, I get prompted to select my OS: http://usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/scanners/canoscan_series/canoscan_fs4000us#DriversAndSoftware . On other parts of the Canon support site, I need to click on a Change OS link to get that dropdown menu or swap to the Select OS in that dropdown menu and then refresh the page. Then I can select a new OS. (Note the site uses Javascripts that do not seem compatible with all browsers. I found it worked with Firefox 6.0.2 . The exact location is hidden until you agree to the Canon Terms of Use.)

However, this driver, fs4000usvst103ben.exe, is listed as a Vista 32-bit driver released in 2007. Since the 64-bit Windows requires signed drivers, Canon doesn't make 64-bit drivers for their older scanners. (This scanner was released with compatibility with Win98.) Thus you will probably get an error message about the unsigned driver when you try to install it.

If the driver refuses to install, you may be able to run the driver installer by using the compatibility mode. Download the file and save it to your hard drive. Right click on the exe file and choose Properties. In the Compatibility Tab, select Run this Program in the Compatibility Mode and choose XP. Click Apply and then OK. Right click again on the exe and choose Run as Administrator.

I use a Canon CanoScan fs 4000us with Windows 7. I Use program VueScan 8.6.63 and a USB-cable. It need no driver.

Hello friend,
You must open your scanner and gently wipe the glass screen down with a cloth.. this should remove all dirt and make a clear scan.

Probably a dead pixel in the sensor. You can request a repair quote from caono online.

Drivers and software are available at this link. Be sure and download and install both the driver and the Toolbox program (under Software)>
