Lost childbirth? Hey I was just reading your posting on Fixya.com about losing the recording to your childbirth due to a "movie recording disabled" error. I actually had the same freaking problem. But I did recover the recording, even after removing the disc. Does your camcorder have USB Connections? If so, all you would need to do is put the appropiate disc and the camcorder and connect the camcorder to your PC. Open up a program like Windows Movie Make which comes free with your PC. (Not sure what it would be if you have a MAC) Then you should be able to view the videos that were recorded on that disc. Finally follow the instructions to import them onto your pc. Hopefully that works for you. I just recorded my daughter's childbirth and I was about to go crazy. I felt like suing Sony because that is something you can never get back and this is my last child. I missed my first 2 because I was depolyed in Kuwait/Iraq. Anyway... I hope that works for you. -J.Lamar Ferren

SOURCE: movie recording disabled

I have the same problem.  If you have taken the disk out of the re-corder, then you can no longer finalize the disk...and you will potentially lose the data on the disk.  Their only solution was to take it to a professional media service and see if they could recover it...what a joke...at no point in the manual does it indicate that you cannot remove your disk or face the potential of losing your recording...I lost the recordings of the birth of my son...I will never forgive that...

SOURCE: same problem "movie recording disabled"

Scott,
Since this is a new camera, nothing was changed as far as the disc, it should work, has it been switched to "still" for photos, that's the message that comes up when you change it. You shouldn't have to finalize the disc before you shut off the camera, try starting it with another disc then shut it off replace it with your baptism disc and try to preview the video, if it shows you should be able to aad to it or then finalize it.

Have I lost all my video when my Sony Camcorder says Movie Recording Disabled?

Hi, Probably not. depending on the model this appears to be a safety feature keeping you from recording over what you may already have. There is probably a disable function if you want to record over those things, Check the manual, or the website for the manufacturer.

Movie recording disabled

for disc (DVD) camcorder: this problem is due to high shock to camcorder. the recorder lens is moved from it's original place and can't record or access thereafter. you also can not finalize the disc (DVD). you have to replace the disc with new one.

you also lost your recording till the problem happened.

"MOVIE RECORDING DISABLED"

Breanna,

Unfortunately, it looks like it is a problem with the disc you have in the camera. If you have another disc, put it in and see if the error message remains. Obviously, the new disc won't have your original video on it, but it will help determine if the cause is the disc.

Pls help me

Tough to say for sure with out giving me the model number. Some of these models have a 5 second record feature. It's never good to just open the door during recording or you could lose recording information. press record pause first and wait for it to complete it's processing time.

Recording disabled

guys hope you all found the solution like me who had same issue. if you noticed, it says about the aspect ratio and that means the formated disc aspect ratio is not compatible with the aspect ratio your camera need. so re-formating the dvd with right aspect ratio solved the problem quickly and we have peace.

Clock loses time

Take daylight savings time in the clock setting. if not, it might be a clock defect in the unit.
