Try the changing the input on your DVD to " AUX", that input will allow you to play sound from your tv through the DVD

SOURCE: sound doesnt sync up from direct tv to the speakers

(IF YOU"RE TALKING ABOUT SOUND LAG) The LG home theater system audio setup has delay settings, set delay to 0 ms to get rid of sound synchronization delay.

(IF YOU WANT DIRECTV SOUND FROM SPEAKERS) I used an optical cable from the back of the directv receiver to the Home Theater receiver. You can also use an RCA cable.

SOURCE: the surround sound only plays on dvd not tv

most tv shows will only be broadcast in 2.0 not 5.1 or higher. if you have a converter box, that may also be the problem.

SOURCE: I have an LG all in one home theatre system, LCD

OK. For all you regular Joe's like me here's the fix--plain and simple! I have Dish Networks HD receiver, an LG Home Theater System (LHB953) and an LG HD Television - although I suspect this applies for most LG TV-to-LG Audio Systems used in combination with a HD TV). My problem lied within the LG to LG setting known as SIMPLINK which tries to "auto-configure" everything between LG to LG devices.

Do this to make your HD TV (using Dish/DirecTV) play it's HD video display from the satellite provider but play the audio over the LG surround sound speakers:

1. Plug a HDMI cable from your satelite receiver's set-top-box to your HD TV. This will carry your HD "video" ONLY. Click "Input" on the TV remote until the HD video signal shows your desired TV channel from your satellite provider.

2. Plug an HD Optical cable (the one with the red laser) from your LG HTS (Home Theater System) to your satellite box. This will carry your HD "audio" ONLY.

3. This is the magic everyone seems to be overlooking. On the LG TV remote, go into the menu options and disable SIMPLINK by setting SIMPLINK=OFF. This feature allows the video and audio signals to be split over 2 different ports: HD video goes over the HDMI cable and the audio to go over the HD Optical cable.

Hope this helps!

Internal speakers won't turn off when external audio is connected

Normally , you would expect the TV sound to stop when headphones are plugged in. Obviously not in this case. If you have a set of headphones, try them and see if the TV still has speakers on. If it does, then there may be a setting on the setup of the TV to get headphones to work. If the TV speakers stop, then I would think that the Logitech are not compatible with the TV. The only other thing would be is to get into the TV and disconnect the TV,s own speakers. If the wires are soldered on and not terminal connected, carefully cut 1 of the wires off near the speaker. If 1 wire is cut, the speaker wont work. Make sure both the TV and the additional speakers (If they have their own power supply) you are using are unplugged from the power before you go doing this...!

How do you get audio to play through a receiver? We have the TV running to input on receiver and no sound?!?!

You have to go thru the menus on the TV and tell it you want TV speakers off, and output to surround at fixed volume. Then plug audio out wires (RCA jacks or optical digital wire) from audio outs on TV to AUX or Video or something like that into the receiver.

Panasonic TV does not play through surround speakers

so it is a connections problem I think. Check if video and audio cables are properly connected. Use color codes as your guide. Also from menu check if all settings are ok. Good luck

Connected Auvio Bluetooth speaker to Samsung LN-S3241D TV via digital optical wire and digital-to-analog audio adapter; the sound plays great but the volume can not be adjusted with the speaker controls,...

Check your menu on the Samsung to switch audio out selector. You might have to use ANALOG outputs instead.
you could then eliminate digital to analog adapter.
Analog out uses the RCA PLUGS.

Fader/sub/speaker not working properly

I'm not an expert but often people connect subs to normal speaker wires in back of the radio. You need a dedicated subwoofer line so high frequency sound doesn't go to the subs. Only bass. Sounds like it wasn't wired properly.

Playing cd's no sound from the speakers when I have the cd/dvd option selected. When I put the reciever on I can hear dead air coming thru the speakers but not when I have the cd switch selected....

You need to find the manual and/or read and understand every indicator and evaluate how it affects the sound. Use a medium volume setting while troubleshooting.Check connections.

Start with the basics. Speaker test ok? FM ok. Digital sources assigned yada yada.

I have a 32" LG

Hello Undernet01,

Yes, it's very simple. Connect the computer speakers to the headphone socket on the TV, then run a separate audio cable from the PC to the TV. A PC monitor cable wont carry an audio signal so you need to connect an RCA type cable or similar - depending on whether you have corresponding audio OUT sockets on the PC and audio IN sockets on the TV.

You will then have sound from both the PS3, the PC, and the TV on the computer speakers. The TV speakers will automatically switch off when something is plugged into the headphone socket.

Simples as pies.

When I play a CD or DVD the sound plays normally, but when we try to watch TV the volume has to be adjusted to maximum and we can still barely here it.

thats correct man if your running sound from your tv to the reciever it is sharing the signal strenghth with the reciever and i will sound very weak the only way to correct that is to turn off your tv speakers and use your reciever as your primary sound source for the tv sound

When I play a DVD in the system I can only get the surround sound out of the speakers but no voices. If I play a CD or hook it up to my tv everything is ok.I have tried a number of DVD's and all have the...

sounds like you need to surround modes. There is usually a Stereo, Dolby, DTS, "virtual surround", 4-speaker mode etc..
When you play a CD or connect to TV it likely defaults to playing stereo or virtual surround.

With real surround, almost all of the voices are coming from the center-channel speaker (normally placed closest to the TV).

Also, check to make sure the center channel is connected properly.

Sound not coming from left side surround sound speaker or my right side front speaker

it is highly likely that you're TV is outputting mono sound, hence the left channel only. check your physical connections to the TV and the balance / channel volume on the television as well.
