What do xpcom mean when trying to get on to internet site as it keeps comeing up cannot load xpcom

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. (XPCOM problems require a reinstall) This means you remove Firefox program files (not any bookmarks etc. in your profile folder) and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
  1. Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
  2. After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
  3. Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    • Windows:
      • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    • Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
    • Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
  4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    1. Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

Cannot load XPCOM for Mozilla firefox

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

I accidentally change my browser, restriction is the message appear in my windows, how do i set this into my default?

As we all know, when the Mozilla Firefox is installed, another version called "Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode)" is installed. But most firefox users don't know it's importance and would consider it to run in Safe Mode. This feature is also used to Change the Firefox settings/preferences.

If you've messed up with the security settings, add-ons, etc..etc.. we have to reset all the settings from the Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode). To do this, follow the steps below:

For windows xp

Click "Start" then "Run" and type in "firefox -safe-mode" [Note: one space after "firefox"] and press enter. A new window will open up (shown below)

44cb90b.jpg

You can select whatever you want to restore, but if you only need to reset the changes you've made to the "Preferences", then simply select (check mark) the "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" and click "Make Changes and Restart". Once you click the "Make Changes and Restart", firefox will restart.

If your operating system isn't Windows XP, then the commands are as follows:

Windows Vista and Windows 7

Click "Start" then "Start Search" and type in "firefox.exe -safe-mode" (one space after firefox.exe).

Mac OS

Open, "Application" and "Utilities" then "Terminal" and type in "/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox -safe-mode" and press enter"

Linux

Open "Terminal" then type in "/path/to/firefox/firefox -safe-mode"

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I installed a addon for firefox and now firefox does not start again. it keeps saying windows:xbl error or somerthing like that. can u please tell me how to delete the file or reboot my notebook.

You need to go to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile name> (Windows Vista and Windows 7) and delete the addon, it usually has its own folder depending on the addon. For Windows 2000/XP, it would be C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile name>. If all else fails, delete the entire Mozilla folder from the Roaming folder (Windows Vista/Windows 7) or the Application Data folder (Windows 2000/Windows XP).

I am very grateful for the Mozilla Spell check add-on (British) but there is one word which it does not correct when typed out incorrectly - expelined or explanied (instead of explained), there is another...

persdict.dat [a text file that opens in notepad] that's located in the profile folder of your Firefox installation.
For Windows Vista - %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxx.default
For Windows XP - C:\documents and settings\<username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxx.default\persdict.dat holds the personal dictionary entries used by the spell checker that you added manually through web forms and input fields. Shut down Firefox and open the persdict.dat file using Notepad or any text editor.

If u still having doubts please follow this link

Hope this helps you
