Ice machine fill tube keeps dripping

Last year water kept dripping through the drinking water spout. I changed the water valve assembly and problem was solved. Now, water keeps dripping from the ice maker drip tube even if I turn the ice maker off. Any idea what is causing this.

SOURCE: Lg side by side Ice maker not filling all of the tray/dripping

You may have a restriction in the icemaker.  Remove the icemaker and make sure that there is no ice buildup other than in the cube slots.  Also make sure that the fill tube is clear of any ice obstruction.

SOURCE: Ice maker drip into ice bucket and manual cycle leaks more water

Need to take the ice maker out to measure the amount of water input into the ice tray. In this case the tray was already full (from the leaking valve). The spillage I saw was just the tray overflowing. Time for a new valve.

SOURCE: water on the ice maker doesn't shut off - drips into the ice pan

Most models of Ice makers have an automatic timer for the amount of water that is allowed to enter the Ice Maker tray. If your timer valve is going bad you need to replace it. First I would reduce the amount of water coming from its source. There should be a tapped valve under your sink, connected to your water line. You have to turn the top of the valve clock wise to reduce the amount of water the is going to the back of your refrigerator. That is where you will find the timer valve. Reducing your water flow should help reduce the volume of water being let into your Ice Maker.

SOURCE: water in ice maker drips

Hello,

The cause of the constant drip is the inlet valve. Since the ice-maker water doesn`t travel through the filter but directly to the ice-maker, the valve must be faulty to allow water to travel through the valve when it`s not energized.

The valve part number most common for your type of fridge (manufactured by Whirlpool) is W10247725 and retail`s around $25-$30US.

**If you decide to service this on your own remember to unplug the unit and shut off the water to the unit.**

Hope that help`s. If so please take a second to rate the solution I provided for you here at fixya.

Good luck.

Why is my Uline ice maker filling with water not ice ?

At first I wanted to say it has to fill with water to make ice but I know you mean the ice bin is filling with water. You either have an issue with the water control valve leaking or your timer isn't working properly. Listen for the water to flow and when it seems to shut off look at the tray fill spout and see if it actually stopped dripping. If it continues to drip (not flow normally) then the valve is leaking. If it isn't dripping but the water in the ice tray over flowed, then the issue is either with the timer or the adjustment is incorrect.

It's not making ice. Not sending water to the ice maker. I replaced the filter this morning. Water is dispensed for drinking , but not for the ice maker.

I just replaced the water valve because my water dispenser in the door kept dripping. Google parts for your model and put in water valve. It will cost around $80 for the part. My sic year old did most of thr reacement after watching an online video.

We have the water hooked up at the back of machine. there is a spout for the water to come in and fill the ice tray.but is does not. If we turn the water on it fills up the space under the ice basket. I...

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the fill tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.
With the fill tube blocked with ice the water can drip down the back wall or drip into the ice bin or just stop up. You can use a hairdryer to thaw the tube out.

I have water frozen where the ice comes out of the ice-maker. This prevents ice from being made.

Your water valve is dripping like a leaky faucet. This forms a chunk of ice in the fill spout. Change the water valve and thaw out the fill spout and it should start going again.

Ice maker stopped making ice and now is leaking from the back of the fridge.

Here is what I think it might be: The water valve has a slow faucet like drip that forms a stalagmite in the fill tube. When the ice maker calls for water the water goes out the backside. OR it might be the line has a hole in or has come off the fill tube in back of the ice box. Solution: replace water valve and blow dry fill spout to get out ice.

Ice maker on side by side refirgerator will not quit making

Hello there
Please try these few tips ok?
  1. It may be turned off. Check the Ice maker shutoff arm located at the top of the ice bin. Look for the wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If the wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. If so, simply lower the wire.
  2. Is there water in the ice cube tray? If not check for water to the water valve. If you have water then it could be either a failed fill valve or ice maker control module is not activating the water valve.
  3. Check for pinched water supply line (behind the fridge)
  4. Do you have an inline water filter? If so, when was it changed last? To test if it is plugged, check for water both before and after the filter system.
  5. Sometimes the water inlet tube that directs water into the ice cube tray freezes over; this can often be thawed out by simply using a hair blow dryer and warming the area (be careful not to overheat the plastics as they can warp or crack). Then adjust the freezer to a slightly warmer setting and make sure water is not constantly dripping from the inlet tube, as it will only freeze over again.
  6. If it continues to drip we may need to replace the water control valve.
  7. The ice maker head assembly may have broken parts. Look to see if the gears are broken.
  8. Check to see if the small plastic arms that rest against the ice rake are broken.
  9. If the ice maker head assembly is modular and you've found broken parts,

Frigidaire Model # GLRS267dzw2 ice maker isn't filling up with water too make ice.

As every technician knows , a water and ice dispensor refrig , has a dual water inlet valve . Just because the water dispensor works , does not mean the coil for the ice maker is working . Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it dumps the frozen cubes , but does not refil with water , check the fill tube inside the freezer , from the wall to the fill cup on the ice maker , to see if it is frozen . If so , replace the dual water inlet valve , due to seeping . This is not closing completely , and letting drips thru , which freeze inside the tube . If the tube is not frozen , then the water inlet valve is bad , not letting water thru to the ice maker .
If the ice maker does not dump the frozen cubes , then the ice maker needs to be replaced . Also check the coils under the refrig , to be sure they are clean of dust , lint , etc , as this will raise the temp above 5 degrees , which is the operating temp , for an icemaker .
