of course there is ...if the system runs a viable operating system and I assume it is windows Xp...all you need is a web cam with a microphone on it ...or a simple web cam and a headset (mic +earphones)..and the skype program that is available on the internet for free downloading ...
install the camera ..and the microphone ..(pink in ) if the sound is not on ..just check on volume manager to see if it is checked there and not muted...
thats all you need for a video call with sound and image on skype or any other instant messaging program ...msn...yahoo messenger or all...

My emachines W3052 desktop won't start but powers cpu fan and the hard drive light is steady on

Hi there Andrew, we could really do with more information, such as. Has the pc been modified since you have had it ? upgraded, been seen by a technician etc, if not, and you can do this, I would suggest trying a power supply for test, but make sure it exceeds your system requirements. i.e if your current psu says 250 watts do not choose a supply less than 250 watts, make it the same or a higher wattage.

I have a dell optiplex gx260, without ram it beeps 6 times, with ram it doesnt beep. Power light is steady green and MoBo light is steady amber in both cases. Does it mean the PSU

Try another monitor or video card if it has a separate video card. If it does have a separate video card remove it and attach monitor cable to 15 pin VGA plug integrated on the system brd.

I need to reset the BIOS on a w2260 model. cant

The BIOS is the "Basic Input/Output System".
It is stored on a chip on your motherboard.
Generally, the BIOS _never_ needs to be updated ("flashed").

You can change hardware (amount of RAM, add/remove add-in audio/video/network cards, new hard-drive) and the BIOS will detect the new & changed devices, without needing to be "reset".

If you can press DELETE and get to "BIOS setup", then re-enable that "BIOS Guardian", save changes, and exit from setup.

So, exactly what "prompt" are you getting?

Definition of beep codes on power-up beep-------beep beep beep-------beep beep beep---------beep on a t2542 emachine

Sounds like a video error. It may be caused also by a bad memory, but I suspect problems with video.

Emachine Will not boot

different beeping patterns are codes which indicate what part of the hardware has failed (ram, video card, cpu, ect). the fan failure would not cause beeps, and would not cause the cpu to fail unless already in windows. if you could find out the manufacturer of your motherboard you could check with them about what the paticular pattern of beeps which you are getting mean.

E machine no power

Make sure the RAM is seated, the CPU, any video card and the Power supply is properly connected.

If you power it on, still get no POST (beep at startup from the PC speakers) its time to replace the motherboard.
