Battery not charging
Should contact SearsPartsDirect.com,they have all the wirings on all their Craftsman lawn tractors. There is another way you might find a wiring diagram. Look in back of your Owner's Manual,i have found a wiring diagram & part numbers to include,the whole tractor is broken down in a diagram format. with switch off try crossing out the solenoid. take an old screwdriver and place it on the two metal contacts jetting out from the solenoid usually by the battery or close to the ignition. if strarter engages when this is donr replace solenoid. if not replace starter. hope this helps.

the charging system runsfrom a stator which is underneath the flywheel and runs to a rectifier/regulator module and to the battery. it will power the blades if it is an electric clutch system and also the fuel plunger system on the carbuerator

im sure the switch is bad, trying to jump is a good way to find out if the starter is bad but of course wont start cause of no spark, alot of these have electronic magnetos
