I assume you mean the cabin air filter. The engine air filter is easy, assuming you've changed one on any other car before (hint: it's a box with some clips on the right side). The cabin air filter is a bit more involved, see below.

Changing the air filter on a 2001 Honda CB 500 involves a few steps. Here's a general guide on how to do it:

1. Locate the Air Filter Compartment:
   • First, you'll need to locate the air filter compartment. For most motorcycles, including the CB 500, the air filter is typically under the seat or behind a side panel.
2. Remove the Seat or Side Panel:
   • Use a screwdriver or a wrench to remove the seat or side panel. This will expose the air filter compartment. Keep the screws or bolts in a safe place so you don't lose them.
3. Remove the Old Air Filter:
   • Open the air filter compartment. You may need to unscrew or unclip it. Once open, you'll see the air filter.
   • Carefully remove the old air filter. It may be dusty or dirty, so handle it carefully to avoid getting debris inside the air intake.
4. Clean the Air Filter Compartment:
   • Before installing the new filter, clean the compartment with a dry cloth to remove any dirt or debris.
5. Install the New Air Filter:
   • Take your new air filter and place it in the compartment. Ensure it fits snugly and correctly, as improper installation can affect engine performance.
6. Reassemble Everything:
   • Once the new filter is in place, close the air filter compartment and reattach it if necessary.

Filters can be deceptive - as well as quickie oil change joints!! While a dirty cabin air filter will not affect your mileage or performance, a dirty air filter will rob you of power and fuel mileage.Modern air filters can take a decent amount of abuse but, if it is a disposable, they can clog up and not LOOK bad. Replacing a disposable air filter with a cleanable air filter ( like K&N or Spectre) will improve your engines performance and lifetime span and is something you can do without paying somebody to do for you.Cleaning your air filter about every 10 oil changes will assure maximum performance. Some will say this is too frequent and very well may be, depending on your local terrain ( dirt roads, sand,farming,city, etc.) and you'll have to be the judge on that. Quickie oil changers make their money on peripherals - filters, additives, etc. and many times will tell you a filter needs changed when it doesn't. The general rule of thumb on filters is this;
If you hold the filter up and look through it at the sun or bright light and see light through it then it is still good, but if lots of junk falls out of it then it's time to replace.

take off the bolt and the lock ring then disconnect the exhaust to the engine and the air filter then change the air filter.

Your Honda Odyssey comes with only 2 filters: an engine intake air filter and a cabin filter.

The air conditioning filter that your manual speaks of is known as a ''cabin filter'', it is much differant then your engine air filter. It filters the incoming air into your vehicles interior. So if someone has told you to replace your ''air filter'' they are more then likely speaking of your ''engine'' air fitler. You should check your engine air filter every oil change. If it shows signs of dirt, then replace it. Hope this helps =)

Of course how long they last depends on your pattern of usage. For the initial 80% of the filter life the control panel will display a green light next to the corresponding filter on the outline of the unit. When the orange light goes on it does not mean that the filter needs to be replaced immediately but that there is 20% of useful life left. IQAir gives you plenty of time and the machine will tell you how many hours you have left. Once the number of hours gets to within a few hours remaining the orange light will then change to red. It is at this time you should change the filter. If you forget to change it and there are no hours left the hours will go into the negative displaying how many hours you have gone over and the red light will change to a flashing red light.

Just in case you have lost the manual like one of our customers, this is how you reset the filter lights:
1. Press the menu button ( 7 times) until you get to where the display says new filter.
2. Press the enter button and hold it down for 3 seconds and a number 1 will be flashing after the words new filter on the display. This flashing number is so you can enter which filter you have changed. Filter number 1 is the pre-filter, filter number 2 is the V-5 gas filter, and filter number 3 is the Hepa filter.
3. You change the number for the filter by pressing the up arrow button.
4. Once you reach the correct filter number you press the enter button and the control panel will display a question mark after the words new filter on the display. Below this it will say, E = Yes M = Cancel. If you wish to cancel the entry so it does not reset a new filter life, simply press the Menu button.
5. If you want it to reset the filter life for the changed filter, simply press the Enter button. Once this is done, the filter light will change back to the green light, which will show the filter has been changed. If you go to the remaining filter life on the control panel for the filter number you just changed, you will now see the remaining life of the filter in hours has been reset.
