Before you remove or try to adjust your low and high speed jets you should always count the number of turns it takes to lightly seat the idle mixture screw and high speed needle adjusting screws.
Be sure to write the number of turns down on a piece of paper so you will know how many turns from the seated position to open the jets when you go to reinstall them, or if you remove them for cleaning or replacement.
If you have aready tried to adjust them then the adjustments below should get it running for you for final adjustment when warm.
Normally you will adjust your idle jet to 1/2-3/4 turn open from the bottom seated position.
Then you will re-adjust the low speed of the engine when the engine is warm by turning the idle screw in or out till the engine runs smoothly at idle speed, around 1200 RPM.
The high speed jet is adjusted to 1 1/2- 1 3/4 open from the bottom seated position, after the engine is warm.
Then re-adjusted by turning the High Speed jet adjustment screw in or out till the motor runs smoothly at high speed.
Alway use the "lightly seated" method if you have not changed the screw settings.

Hi this most honda engines dont have a mixture adjustment screw they only have a air bleed adjusment on the front of the carby close to the head though you can only move it a bit either way on some others should be about 2 turns out from closed, the main problem that honda engines have is they will still run with water in the carby , I would try cleaning out the carby bowl first its only held on with a bolt in the centre.

Take the covers off the drive,there should be a hollow bolt the cable comes thru, it should have 2 adjustment nuts This lengthens or shorts the cable. There also may be a adjustment on the handle.

Have you removed the air cleaner and briefly tested the engine to see if the problem persists? Air cleaner is usually on the left front corner of the engine as you stand behind the mower. A dirty air cleaner will cause the exact same symptom you describe. A sticking or not disengaging choke will also cause the symtom you described.

Ok having said all of that.... Your carb item 34 this link:

can be cleaned by you.

Before you start.... if you have a digital camera take "close up" PICTURES of the linkages and springs attaching to the carb. If this is your first time you will be so glad you did. You can always delete them later if you don't need them. :)

Here is what you need to do:

1. Fuel selector off
2. Remove float bowl mounting screws and nut
3. Remove the BRASS Jet / Orifice in the very bottom of the venturi tube inside the pickup tube. (Flat blade screwdriver) Hold the Orifice up to the light. You should see a pinhole. If it is not clear clean the orifice but do not force anything through the hole.
4. Underneath the Orifice there is yet another BRASS tube that you need to remove. (Flat blade screwdriver) Make sure all of the holes in the tube are clear. The tube will be over 2 inches long. Clean it and reinstall it.
5. Reinstall the Orifice.
6. Using a catch fuel container turn on the fuel selector. Fuel should flow at a good rate. GENTLY lift the float assy level and make sure fuel flow shuts off. When you drop the float again fuel should flow.
If you do not have fuel flow at this point the needle and seat will need to be inspected. Fuel selector OFF.
(The following procedure is to be done only if there is no fuel flow with fuel selector on.)
a. Remove the silver float pivot pin retaining screw
b. Drop the Float down (The needle will come off with the float. NOTE the position)
c. Inspect the tapered rubber of the needle If should be pointed. If it is not pointed then the rubber tip is stuck inside the seat.
d. Clean the seat hole ONLY if obstructed. (Easily damaged)
e. FUEL Selector on then off fuel should rapidly flow through the needle seat.
f. Renistall Float and needle making sure to get the pivot / hinge pin installed correctly and reinstall the silver retaining screw.
g. Fuel selector ON. Raise and lower float checking for free movement with fuel flow when lowered and stopped when the float is raised level.

7. If there still is no fuel flow at this point remove the fuel hose from the carb and check fuel flow. If no flow check that gas tank exit hole, fuel filter (if installed) and the selector valve assy for obstructions.

Reassemble connections.


8. BEFORE you install the float bowl inspect the bowl nut. There are 2 holes in the side of the nut where it screws in to the bottom of the carb that must be clear.

9. Install Float bowl mounting screws and nut. Check for leaks.

10. Test engine.

That should do it. (carb cleaning 101)

Hi my Morrison bc325s2 when I started it and warmed up , I tried to go full throttle and it would die any reason for this, is it fuel mix with two stroke oil or the carb or fuel hoses blocked?

if it has 2 adjuster screws on the carby, it could be the high speed screw adjustment
start it and raise the rpms until it starts to falter
adjust the screw in or out until it settles at the setting then increase the rpms some more until the adjustment makes a change
keep going until you get full throttle
If there is only one screw , rekit the carby as it is most likely a diaphragm failing and not pumping the fuel through for the extra rpms

Greetings. I have a eu2000 honda inverter with the following problem. The high generator runs too fast, when the idle is activated, slows down a bit, but does not increase

on the governor control back to the carby , there is a screw that adjusts the spring tension for the governor arm
that screw is the adjustment for engine operating rpm not the idle screw

Hi check for Wear on the float where needle sits to check Float level ( with the bottom of carby off ) just get it roughly horizontal with the top rim ,:::: one more thing give the float a shake to check if any petrol has leaked inside the Float.this can cause the carby to leak. ,U might need a new needle & seat. , Cheers.

Hi you need to take the carby off for cleaning
Take carby fully apart,
Remove the low & the high adjust screw blow air down all small holes & jets.I had the same problem with a Whipper snipper done this & it fixed it.

Honda CT 110 carby settings

Hi, Anonymous it should be noted that the "AIR FUEL" mixture screw adjustment "ONLY" manages your idle and has no effect on any other circuit also any intake leaks must be repaired before the A/F adjustment procedure can be performed otherwise you will never obtain a proper idle and you will waste a lot of time chasing the impossible. The A/F mixture screw's purpose is to fine tune the fuel charge entering the combustion chamber. The following applies to both 2 and 4 stroke engines:
1. The mixture screw may be sealed at the factory with a Welch Plug please review the following video for removal.
2. The mixture screw manages a range of 3 complete 360-degree counterclockwise turns from the bottom/closed position.
3. The mixture screw should have a spring and o-ring for tension and sealing integrity.
4. Turn the mixture screw clockwise until it gently bottoms out, this makes the fuel charge very lean and the engine should not idle if it does then the pilot/idle jet is too big and needs to be replaced with the next size smaller.
5. Turn the mixture screw 1 and 1/2 turns counterclockwise to establish a baseline for starting the engine.
6. To fine-tune the idle circuit, adjust the mixture screw 1/4 turn in or out to achieve maximum idle RPM, wait 15 seconds between each adjustment for the idle to settle.
7. Never go past 3 full turns out this will make the fuel charge rich, foul plugs, and produce black smoke out of the exhaust, if the engine RPM keeps increasing past 3 turns the pilot/idle jet is too small and needs to be replaced with the next size larger.
8. After achieving maximum idle back out the mixture screw another 1/8 of a turn then adjust the throttle cable idle stop screw to 950-1050 RPM.
9. This procedure works great on 99% of all engines, for the 1% that demand a more robust throttle response on aftermarket monster fuel delivery systems additional tweaking outside the box may be necessary.

Your question is a little vague but I can definately help with bike as I have had tons of experience with the old CX 500's. Timing on a CX, that is to say ignition timing, is electronic(cdi) & is prity much set & forget

( If at some stage anyone was to do a cam chain replacement- be very careful to mark the pulser trigger position as you can set these 180 degrees out).

Still, if you want to check the ignition timing- here is how to do it.
Under the left hand carby-on the rear crankcase cover is a fairly large(50mm) plug-with a hex drive-17mm if I remember correctly.

Remove this plug.
Using an induction timing light connected to the L/H cylinders H/T lead- shine timing light into hole & you will see the timing marks. It should fire at the "F" mark-- when reved it should advance.

OK - As far as SYNCRONIZATION is concerned- you may be talking about carburettor sync.
This is where you compare/adjust the inlet manifold vacumes so that both cylinders are equal.
You would first need to purchace some vacume guages. You can get them from bike shops & of course e-bay-there prity cheap now & usuall come with adaptors that would suit the CX.
You would also need a carby balance adjusting tool. It' like a super long flat bladed screwdriver that goes inside a super long extended 8mm socket. "Motion Pro" do one, as do M.C.S hear in OZ. Again web search or see your local dealer for one.
You will also need a long piece of fuel hose to suit your bike & a hose joiner to suit.

Now -remove the petrol tank
Place on bench next to bike(I actually use a remote tank on a stand with my vacume guages mounted to it)
Connect long piece of fuel hose to the tank & using the joiner connect it to the bike- the tank needs to be higher than the carbys-

Now you have to fit the carby balance guage adaptors to the bike-They are located on both heads in front of the inlet manifolds-5mm philips head screw with alloy/copper washer under it.

Fit the adaptors to the manifolds & the gagues to them

Your ready to go- Start the bike and compare the vacume readings.
If they are different you adjust them using the carby balance adjusting tool. the adjuster is in between the two carbys in the centre -looking down on the carbys- 8mm locknut over flat adjusting screw.

Adjust-stop bike-open the throttle wide open -let go-- (let the throttle snap back on its seat to settle the mechenism after each adjustment)
this re-seats/settles the adjuster-

start bike a check again.

Set your mixture screws to 1.5 to 2 turns.(from underneath each carby-at the front)
Just be sure that adjusting the mixtures didn't affect the balance
readings & thats it.
Re-assemble the bike & the jobs done

Before adjusting anything, check the fuel filter, air filter, and muffler for plugging. Check the condition of the fuel lines for decay or other damage. Tighten all carburetor fasteners. Make sure you have fresh fuel mix in the tank. Does the primer bulb pull fresh fuel into itself when pumped? Turn both jet screws CW to stops (lightly), then back out CCW 1-1/2 turns each. This is a basic setting and should allow the engine to start and run. Start the engine and allow it to warm up, then pull the throttle full on. Adjust H needle CW until the engine starts to speed up, but still 4-stroking. Proper final adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes unloaded, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Release the throttle and adjust L needle CW for fairly good idle, but still allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Adjust idle speed screw so that the chain stops turning, but the engine will continue to run. Hope this helps!
