The right half of the TV is darker sometimes. It's like it's on a delay and looks really bad. If I turn on the TV and let it sit for a while without any input, then turn it to whatever I'm watching it will work for hours without any problem. Is this the this is a T-conn board going bad? I have quite a bit of electronic repair experience and feel comfortable replacing it. I could not find a free service manual download so I figured this would be a good start. Thank you in advance for your help.
The problem is in the power supply! You must replace the capacitors next to Connection 2 (CN2 is the location). Replace C615 16 volts at 1000Mf,C621 16 volts at 1000Mf, C605 25 volts at 470Mf. C632 is fine, leave it, as is. The 605 capacitor (25 volts at 470mf). Looks good, tests good, replace anyway! Now with this complete, resolder all of the transformers (Large and small) pins you can find. Resolder inverter connections CN4 and CN5. Resolder any and all heat sinks (these hold transistors and mosfets). This will correct the dark shadows you see on TV. Thanks for asking, Matt of Martins TV.
Es it sounds like a Tcon but be careful ordering one because Sanyo had about 9 different versions of that model number all using different boards. You can get the correct one and free repair assistance from www.tvrepairworld.com
Is there a way to test the Tcon board? I have a DMM. If I could get the info needed, I could replace the single faulty component. I'm comfortable with desoldering and soldering single parts. I just need to know what all my values should be.
Unfortunately you would need some specialized equipment such as a scope.

The problem is most likley the TV backlight - it is very unlikley to be the graphics card or video input or any other circuitry within the TV.
Also, the problem can be manifested by flashing or flickering of one or both halves of the screen, and sometimes it is a left/right split rather than a top/bottom split, depending on where the lights are positioned. Before failure, you sometimes hear a very high frequency buzz for a few weeks before it fails - the frequency can't be heard by most adults as it ranges from 15kHz-25kHz, but children\animals can usually hear it.
Generally you will need to replace the backlight tube or the invertor that drives it. Generally you can identify the backlights as thin glass tubes buried deep within the panel itself usually with one wire going to each end of them - they are very fragile. The invertor is connected to the backlight tube and looks like a circuit board, often containing a high voltage warning. Usually there are two or four conductors connecting the invertor to the tubes, which can be identified as thicker individual wires as opposed to the flat ribbon wire used for data for the actual image displayed on the screen.
On some screens you may be able to unplug\swap one or both tubes to identify if it's the tube or inverter.

I had the same problem with the flicker. Mine was a Flicker followed by a greenish line through the screen. It got worse then after 2 months the tv stoped working the power didnt come on at all. I Im taking it to bget fixed. The guy said it has somthing to do with a burnt out switch in the unit.

I'm not an expert, but I have determined that the vertical bars that are often red, sometimes blue ... and sometimes both ... are related to a bad control board. I've also read that a common fix is to buy a repair kit with includes the ysus, zsus and control boards ... all replaced together. My experience was that after a month or two with the 1.5" wide stripes, that you eventually loose the entire picture and have sound only. MIne comes back, but won't stay working for very long and the stripes are always there (buy used to fade and flicker sometimes). I'm planning on replacing the control board.

I have No Solution but I am so glad that I found this board saves me lots of trouble. I have the same model with the very same problem..I found this site about a class action suit against the company. If this is a True Statement, it appears that there is No Solution for this problem. Our set is a little over two years old. Lots of money for something that last no time.
