my ipod was not used for about 15 days and now it appears to be dead. I tried resetting and other means to revive it but nothing seems to be working. Please help!
Does it turn on when it is plugged in? If may be a bad battery. Sometimes when a LiOn battery goes completely dead and is left for an extended period of time, it will not accept charge. If it is under warranty, contact Apple support and have the battery replaced.

Plug your Ipod into your computer. Hold down both the Menu Button (on/off button) and the center button( just below the screen) for 15-30 seconds. You should see the Apple sign after that time. Mine died and was revived this way.
To reset the iPod Touch, press and hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button simultaneously at the same time for at least ten seconds, then
the LCD display will clear and the Apple logo appears on the black
background. When Apple logo appears, reset is done.
Also be sure to leave it plugged in to charge for a few hours - you may have completely drained the battery.
You may reset or restore your iPod for a try, this can fix many general iPod problems. Or you may take a look at this iPod FAQ, it's informative. http://www.mac-dvd.com/ipod-tips-and-ipod-faq.html If it doesn't work, you can contact Apple technical support for help.
I think your ipod is dead. This happened to me to. I was listening to it when I arrived at my destination, and I thought I turned it off and I put it in my pocket. Later that day when I went to listen to it, it wouldn't turn on at all. Aparently, it had stayed on. Hold the pause button for five to ten seconds. The apple symbol will appear on your ipod. Immeadility put it in your docking station before it goes away. Your ipod will turn on, and itwill start charging.

into a computer's USB port.
Let the iPod charge for at least 20 minutes.
Note: If the iPod is connected to a computer, make sure the computer is not set to sleep, standby, or hibernate.
After the iPod has charged for at least 20 minutes and while it is
still connected to the power source, toggle the Hold switch again as in
step 1.
Try resetting the iPod by holding down the Menu and Center buttons for 10 seconds.
If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect the iPod to
a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If
the iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further
troubleshooting is needed.
If the Apple logo does not appear or the iPod is not seen in iTunes, the iPod should be serviced.
