Question about Apple iPod MA446LL/A MP3 Player

Open Question

IPod Video stuck in charging/charged mode

Whenever I plug my iPod (5G Video 30GB) into any external power source (car FM transmitter, AC adapter, stereo dock etc.) it gets stuck in "charging" mode. The iPod will function normally, it just will not turn off. Whenever I push the play/pause button it goes to the "charged" screen even if the iPod is not plugged in. The battery eventually drains and I have to plug it into a computer once the battery is fully dead to get it working properly again.

This problem only occurs if the power source is not USB powered. The iPod is totally fine if it is charged through my computer.

I've tried to do a reset and that didn't work. I restored my iPod to the latest firmware and that didn't help.

Any help or suggestions would greatly be appreciated. I'm going to Mexico in a month and do not want to take my computer just so I can charge my iPod. It's not the safest place in Mexican resorts.

Thank-you in advance,
Kyle

Hi,

Normally, an iPod's battery needs to be replaced for every 18 months. Probably it is a sign now !!

In case your iPod is no longer covered by the warranty and you want to find a second repairing company, you can try iPodResQ or ifixit at your own risk

SOURCE: New Battery Didn't Fix The Problem!

Get the connection checked from the battery to the ipod itself because it may not be connected and your ipod may not be getting power from the battery. Or the battery may be completely dead.

I have one i2! which I used to use with an iPod, but now I tried to use it with an iPhone and with an iPad, and the USB doesn't show the charging capability any more. Does the i2! not work with iPhone and...

All iPhones and iPad's charge with a USB cable. Everybody knows that. What moest people don't know is that it's a bit more technical then that. Every USB port has an electrical voltage of 5 Volts. The voltage of a electrical socket is in Europe 230 or 240 Volts, in America it is (i think) 110 Volts. In a car there is a voltage of 12 Volt. An adapter (charger) will convert a higher voltage to the 5Volt needed for the USB-port. Now i did talk about voltage, but not about current. The current is the amount of electricity running through the device. An old ipod can charge with a current of about 700mA (milli Ampere). Newer iPod's and all iPhone's need 1000mA (or 1A = 1 Ampere). An iPad needs even more. The largest component inside an iPad is the battery. It would take too long to charge this large battery at 1000mA (1A) so it needs 2100mA (2,1 A). If you check the label or the printed information on your FM-transmitter you will see the Ampere rate will we too low, and that's why your other devices won't charge. I suggest you to go to a store and buy a compatible charger or FM-transmitter.

How to add an iPod Input into a Stock Radio?

You can add an iPod to a stock radio in your car, even if the plant does not have an auxiliary input or iPod input using a specific number of iPod car accessories. One such accessory is a cassette adapter that plugs into your iPod as a headset, but ends on a cassette tape to your stock cassette radio. Choose a station that is not a radio station on it so you do not interrupt the signal.

4. Set your stock radio to the channel you selected on your transmitter and then play the songs on your iPod. You will see the songs on your iPod through the radio station you selected.
How do I re charge battery with electrical plug

To charge the battery using your computer:
Connect iPod shuffle to a high-power USB port on your computer using the included iPod shuffle Dock. The computer must be turned on and not in sleep mode (some models of Macintosh can charge iPod shuffle while in sleep mode). When the battery is charging, the status light on iPod shuffle is orange. When the battery is fully charged, the status light turns green.
If you don't see the status light, iPod shuffle might not be connected to a high-power USB port. Try another USB port on your computer.

To charge the battery using an iPod USB Power Adapter If you do not have then you have to buy the same from Apple Store) 1 Connect the AC plug adapter to the power adapter (they might already be connected). 2 Plug the USB connector of the iPod shuffle Dock into the power adapter. 3 Plug the power adapter into a working electrical outlet. 4 Put iPod shuffle in the dock. You can disconnect and use iPod shuffle before it is fully charged.

My ergo notebook will not power on the lights come on then go off ?

It might happen if the static charge is accumulated on the battery conductors. This conductors does not allow to charge the AC adapter or sometimes it does not allow you to start the Notebook.

To remove the static charge, disconnect the computer from the external source (AC adapter) - remove the battery and press and hold the power button for 1 min.

This will release the static charge which is stuck on the battery conductors. This process is called Power drain.

If the computer still does not power ON, then it might the issue with the Motherboard. Please contact the manufacturer for replacement.

Thanks'

Ipod will play on tunebase fm but it won't charge it

There are issues with newer ipods not being 100%compatible with all devices. It is done intentionally by Apple to maximize their profits. For example, an FM transmitter charges and plays on one Ipod, but then a newer ipod will play with the FM transmitter, but the ipod display shows that it is incompatible and will not charge. Same issues with a docking station and a radio. All worked with three other ipods, but the newer ones either won't work or charge depending on the device. Even though ipods play with certain devices they may not charge them and vice versa. Thank Apple for that. I hope this helps and good luck!

I have a ipod 30gb the sound is not good and i

You may need to apply the 5Rs. See here.
Try another cable if you can, to check the charge. Or try charging it with an ac adapter charger, if the computer isn't working well.
In fact, try plugging it into the back usb port of a desktop instead of the front, unless you're using a laptop. Some usb connections are powered off the motherboard, and don't have as good a power source as others.
See also here and here.
Make sure you sync all the songs to your computer first, so you don't lose them....

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
