Can not get DVD-VR357 to record

Hi,
I have Samsung DVD-VR357 and Samsung TV. I have setup my equipment as directions in manuals using HDMI cables. I have great audio and video connection. The problem is I can not get the IR Blaster Cable to turn on the satellite receiver box to record. The setup is as follows: Satellite receiver, I've Red, White and Yellow cables connected to audio/video out, S-Video connected as well running to the Samsung DVD-VR357 AV/In and S-Video connected. The IR Blaster Cable is connect and placed within an inch of sensor on Satellite receiver box. The satellite box brand number for DirecTV I used code 1887 for direct TV listed in the manual. I am not sure if that is correct since I can not get the system to work. I can change the channel using the DVD-VR357 remote but nothing else. Please advise if anyone out have had this problem and what is the solution for this problem? Thanks

SOURCE: How to record ?

I don't know a whole lot about electronic equipment, but I've never seen anything connected in so many ways at the same time. Maybe the antenna and one other type of connection. The different signals from all the connections are probably confusing each other. I would try one connection at a time to see if the problem improves. Good Luck.

Trying to find a setup code for the samsung dvd vr357

Try 0573, 0820, 1932, 0240, or 0045. I also have comcast but just use the remote that came with the recorder/player.You can control all the player functions as well as the up/down volume.

Need help setting up DVD-VR375 with compatible SAMSUNG TV

if it has component (red, blue, green) cables, plug one set into dvd player's "in's" and tv sets "out's'. you may have to play with the tv channels to be able to watch movie. you just change channels, go from "3" backward until you find a picture and sound.

Recording TV

Hi.. it looks as if that particular dvd/vcr is not compatible with the coding digital signals that the hdmi is putting out so it's not converting the signal over correctly.. if you try just using the regular analog cable instead of the hdmi, that might solve your problem.. i hope this helps..d

How To hook up vr357

Hi, You use the video and audio 'out' from your cable box to the 'in' on your Vr357. You can use s-video, component video cables or the av cables that came with it. You can use your HDMI cable from the VR 357 to your television. That will be for upconvert DVD watching. The cable box connection will still go from the box into your television. Hope that helps.
