I recently dropped our primary line and kept Line 2 on our home Norstar Compact ICS system (using M7310 phone). We used line 2 as our fax line and the trunk was directed into the analog connector in the ICS. When a call comes in the line appears and rings on the set but the display just shows time and date. I have Complete Choice service and CLID with the telco. This makes it difficult to know who is calling and whether to pick up the phone. Any ideas? we do have Startalk flash and it does forward to message system after several rings if not recognized by the fax machine.
You must have latest software to have Caller ID
You must have a Caller ID line card
Caller ID must be programmed on the phone to allow it
Caller ID signal from carrier is sent between 1st and 2nd call
FYI on the fax: Analog ports (ATA's) on the Norstar system do not show Caller ID, instead you would need to use a line share device that supports caller id such as the STICK.
SOURCE: Have Norstar M7310 5 line phone 2 lines say they
You need to unplug something, just not the phone.
The two lines are probably conferenced together. Go find the gray Nortel cabinet and pull the plug on it.

I'm pretty sure CID is automatic on a CICS....IF you have a CID trunk card. You might want to post the part number on the face of the trunk and we'll see if it's the proper one.

SOURCE: How do I display my main number on all lines for caller id?
It's not in the maual, because it's not part of your phone system unless you have PRI trunks. On standard loop start central office lines, it's a function of the dial tone provider. Carl

You can look at the manual here:

SOURCE: StarTalk Flash is 1.7.00 + caller ID
The Star Talk Flash is a voice mail prduct. The caller ID feature is a phone system feature. If your system is a norstar CICS or a MICS the caller ID will work only if you have the caller ID capable central office circuit packs installed. Look on the card and see if the label has "CLID". If it dose there is also additional programming required for each set under.... terminals &sets/telco features/featue assignments/show line/caller ID...set:Y. You also have to program (under sets) /telco features/caller ID: Y.
Hope this helps.
