Losing work is great for terrible moods.

There is nothing like spending an hour hammering away at your keyboard making edits to an important document, only to find that you're unable to save it when you're done.

If you're experiencing this issue and Microsoft Word is throwing errors instead of saving your hard work, there is still hope for you.

There's a good chance the file you're working on is read-only.

Saving a new copy will often fix this issue.

If you can't do that, copying the body of a document to another application should do the trick.

Select the "File" tab on the Microsoft Word toolbar. Click "Save As."

Browse to the location you wish to store the file in. Select a format from the "Save as type" drop-down list.

Microsoft Word 2010 will default to the .docx format.

Use "Word 97-2003 Document" to save the file as a .doc file.

Type a name for the file and click "Save."

A new copy of the document will be saved to the location you specified.

Your edits will be included in this new document.

This procedure will get you around read-only permissions.

Use Another Program

Select your Microsoft Work window and press "Ctrl" and "A" simultaneously.

This will highlight the entire document.

Press "Ctrl" and "C" simultaneously to copy the whole document to the Windows clipboard.

Launch an alternate text-editing application.

WordPad and Notepad are included with Windows so they make a logical choice.

Applications like Microsoft Works Word Processor or AbiWord should work as well.

Press "Ctrl and "V" simultaneously to paste your document into the second application.

Click "File" and select "Save As." Select a location, a format and a name for the file and click "Save."

Hope this helps

I need a product key for Microsoft Office and Business 2010, please help.

I wouldn't of thought anybody would give up the product key as this is their licence to use this software.

as a an alternative you can always download open office, a free open source document editor similar to word.

but please note when you save a document from open office you need to make sure you save it as a .doc file or a .docx as it uses its own file type.

I'm looking for a free download for MS Office 2010.

I almost forgot, but MS has a free preview version of 2013. It is cloud integrated (meaning web). You will need a SkyDrive account, because it saves your documents there.

I currently have Office 2007 Basic Edition (Word, Excel, Outlook & Tools). I am at present studying for my E C D L and need Powerpoint. Can I get add-ons anywhere?

Can't really buy it as an add-on you would need to purchase either office 2007 pro pr 2010 pro.
I can offer you a much cheaper alternative. Namely a free one.

Free download microsoft word 2010

MS Office is NOT a free program. If you are looking for a free office suite program you can download a program by the name of Open Office at http://www.openoffice.org It works very much the same as Microsoft Office and you can use it to open documents created in MS Office and save documents in MS Office format..

What are the advantages and disadvantages of microsoft2003 and microsoft2007

Hi, the Microsoft 2007 has more features than the Microsoft Office 2003. Moreover you can save the the Document compatible with Microsoft 2003 from the Microsoft Office 2007 but you can't do the same with Microsoft Office 2003. For example Microsoft Office 2003 saves the Word Document as word.doc which is .doc extension but the Microsoft 2007 saves the word document as word.docx which is .docx extension. Both the formats can be opened with Microsoft Office 2007 but not with Microsoft 2003. The best feature of the Microsoft 2007 is it can edit picture properties like Brightness colour, grayscale...etc witihin any document of Microsoft Office 2007. A new version Microsoft Office 2010 has been released but the Microsoft 2007 is the best to use for more features and user friendly.

Finally I suggest you to use Microsoft Office 2007 or Microsoft Office 2010.

Hi i need a conformation code for microsoft office home & student 2007. installation i have is 210511-954633-250705-334594-593042-590024-002826-337896-630385 thanks

we do not provide product codes for software, the software company does. you will probably find that if the microsoft office on the computer was already installed then it is only a trial version and you need to buy a code. Alternatively, you can download open office for free and it will read and write all microsoft documents. you just have to select 'save as' rather than save or go into the options settings and have it save as microsoft documents by default.
