Hi,

RESETTING THE LAMP HOUR COUNTER

1. Turn the Master Power off using the red button located near the AC input
jack.
2. Hold down the “ENTER”, “ADJ!” and “ADJ"” buttons simultaneously on
the projector. While keeping them depressed, turn on the Master Power
with the switch near the AC input jack. (See diagram below)
3. The unit should power up when you do this and the lamp should light.
Look for “000H” to be displayed on the screen, which will confirm you have
reset the counter to zero.
Note: It is possible that you may have to perform these steps 4 or 5 times
before it works correctly. Also, on some models, you may have to continue to
hold the buttons and press the Power button on the front of the unit after
turning on the Master Power.

Hope this helps

    For your information, the unit is designed prevent the lamp from lighting when the lamp counter has been used for 1900 to 2000 hours. This is to protect the lamp module. When this occurs, you just replace the lamp module with a new one and use the above procedure to reset the counter.

Hello,

Just to shoot another perspective here...

Did you happen to replace the lamp door whe you changed the lamp? It won't allow the lamp to start if the door is not replaced or replaced incorrectly.

Hope this helps you...

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, check;

  • compatibility of the new lamp with the old, the electrical specs;
  • check the fan for dirt/dust accumulation, clean if necessary;
  • some models would not activate the fan if the lamp is incorrect, defective or not sensed to be connected;
  • some models would only activate the lamp when the lamp is operational;
  • a lamp timer/counter is incorporated into the projector. A reset has to be done based on prescribe key combination. Pls reference your owners manual or Sharp Service Bulletin.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Incidentally, one other responder, Dipu007 has copied some tech tips from United Visual addressing lamp timer/counter reset.

Its recommended that you replace a bulb with the same original product as 3rd party bulbs may generate too much heat or other disfunctions.

IF the fan runs fine on the old bulb and it stops runing when you swap in the new bulb, the problem must be your new bulb.

    simple enough to reset the counter

    first remove the case( five screws in the back and slide top completly off carefully so u dont tear the sound cable connected at the front unplug it and set aside..... now all u do is hit the small button on the top of the motherboard with the unit plugged in. DO NOT HIT the switches just the small button!(doing so will shut down the fans and your bulb will have to cool manually which is VERY BAD FOR THE LIFE OF THE LAMP) a prompt will come up. Now go to sss choose system then lamp then hit enter where it says lamp. counter will reset.

The bulb has to be replaced with the same model number and not with the similar ones.such things wont solve the problem.use the exact bulb and it will solve the problem.

Most Sharp projectors require you to perform a reset procedure once you have installed a new lamp. This resets the lamp hour counter so it properly keeps track of the lamp hours for the new lamp. To insure the lamp hour counter will be correct, Sharp built-in a function to disable the lamp until this counter has been reset. The reset procedure can be found in the owner's manual on most models. If you have misplaced the manual or the reset procedure is not in it, contact us and we will e-mail you the procedure. Note: If you have performed the procedure and it doesn't seem to have worked, don't give up yet. On some models, the reset procedure sometimes needs to be preformed several times before it works. No one seems to know why, so just be persistent.

Replaced bulb in Sharp XG-E1200U, the red power light comes on, when I turn the switch on nothing happens.

When the XG-E1200U shows the standby light but does not power on, it usually means several of the 100uf 16 Volt surface mount capacitors have dried up on the main board. Recommend replacing all of these for continued reliability.

Replaced the projector lamp 3 weeks ago. Reset

If the lamp is working it should be fairly obvious but stand to one side of the lens and see whether there is any light coming from the projector. If there is you know that it's an input problem. If there isn't either a fuse has gone, the bulb has blown or the filters might need cleaning. If the bulb has blown it's probably because you handled the bulb. It's vital not to touch these bulbs with your fingers. If you do wipe it with methylated spirits.

250V T6.3AH Slow Blo Fuse

Depending upon the way in which the lamp finally smoked, it is not unusual for the feeder fuse to blow. Replace the fuse and try the projector. As long as you haev a new lamp, it should work OK.

Hi there

This sounds like a common Ballast ( lamp's power supply ) problem.

Only way to rectify this is by replacing the faulty Ballast.
