Compatible units I have a Kenwood cd/DPF-R series 5 cd changer. I need to buy a new recieiver. What is compatible?

It is unclear which Alpine CD changer you have and what output connections are available from it.

However your Kenwood unit has Aux input terminals at the back. With appropriate cable connectors you should be able to hook the two up. In the Kenwood you will have to select AUX in menu when playing CD changer. Download user manual for Kenwood from this site.

CD players need amplifiers if you want to listen to them over speakers. Nothing to do with a remote.

Any kenwood changer will work. That head unit also supports DUAL changers
Any FM Modulated changer wil also work.

The kvt-617dvd doesn't list your changer as one that's compatible. However the changer install procedure is relatively simple - just plug the 13-pin cable from the changer directly into the kvt-617's hideaway receiver. I would suggest you connect it to see if the changer will work before buying anything else.
