Flash card insert to card reader and connected to USB of my Mac Book Pro but source is not recognised. Now in camera (Nikon) a note comes up saying unreadable may be corrupt. How can I recover the images taken during my trip?

Honestly, it is most likely a defective memory card or not compatible with your camera. Sorry.

Hello,
What I suspect here is that, the USB port that you are using is a USB 1.0 port, which has a lower voltage not enough to power on your Storage drive.
In this case, there are two things you can do,
1. Change the USB port you are using for the storage drive to a USB 2.0 one (Just keep Checking all the ports one by one in case you dont know which one it is).
2. If your Storage drive has external power facility, just plug it in an external power first, before connecting it to the system.
If there are no USB 2.0 Ports on your system at all,
then just go to any electronic store and tell them you want to buy a USB 2.0 Expansion card.
and if it is a laptop, A USB 2.0 PCMCIA card.
Install it on your system, and connect your external drive through it.
Hope this helps you out.
Goodluck
