97 Catera-The only lock on the whole car is on the drivers side door and when I turn the key in either directions, the door wont unlock. The key will turn clockwise but the lock wont turn counterclockwise. I didn't want to force the key in hopes that it wouldn't break off in the door but I don't know what else to do. Its been cold lately so I don't know if its frozen or if it runs on the cars battery and the battery died. Please Help.
Thank You

ok i have a catera 98.. my key woud not work...so ii unlocked it from the inside.. then my alarm went off after i open the door..then i got that alarm off. but my car wouldnt start. it would start but would not keep running... please help
Your key portion of the lock does not work off of battery. Go get a big can of lock deicer, and some wd40. spray the **** out of the inside of the key hole. If it doesn't fix, then let me know. I use to live in Erie PA. And when it got cold the doors that didn't get use the most with the keys got the most problems.
i have a partial solution on this issue, i have no remote control, i can only open the door with the key, sometimes key cant unlock the car, then i did discover something.... just pull up a little the lock knob before close the door, if is soft, will open with key, if is too tight just unlock with the door swith and again lock and repeat
