New Year's Eve Frigidaire front load went into spin cycle and suddenly sounded like it was spinning BRICKS..was so loud it was scary...I turned it off, unplugged and took a look..springs fine and shocks brand new..loose drum but not "dropped"...please help!! I MUST figure this out on my own..don't have the $ for repair person and have two sons and 4 dogs...laundry is piling up!!
Spider arms attached to stainless steel drum inside of tub have probably broken. This is a known problem with Frigidaire front loading washing machines. The stainless steel drum has a 25 year warranty but this does not include the spider arms. You cannot buy the spider arms separately, you have to buy the unit as one. The drum cost about $250.00 and probably about $300.00 in labor to install. You can do it yourself but it is pretty involved. Good Luck!

Spider arm broken,
it may able to wash,
but in spin cycle, it makes loud noise and unbalance movement.
replace the spider arm.
if you are handy,
you can use few strong enough pieces of steel iron to drill holes to mount on the broken spider arm with screws.
better to mount the same weight to the other arms to make the drum in balance.
a cheap way to fix.
