Unless it has a hookup for external speakers do not do it---speakers must match inpedance of original speakers, wrong speakers can result in damage to audio circuit of set, cause reduced sound levels etc.

A inexpensive surround sound system might be a option......

thankyou, After looking again, i see there is a monitor out with L/R audio out. I'v only seen desktop speakers with 3.5mm connections. Are they available with RCA?

  • Anonymous Oct 24, 2012

No, but you should be able to get adaptors 3.5 to RCA--be careful.

Bose acoustimass 3 system connect to TV without receiver

Manuals (randomly chose a Series 2 from 1990-1994 - if not that, then choose the series from the Bose site)

There are a number of different models. Assuming you don't have a Powered version of the speakers (You'll know you do if you have to plug the subwoofer into AC power)
For the Unpowered systems, the subwoofer plugs into the Speaker R and L outputs of a receiver or an amplifier, so you will have to provide amplification. The satellites plug into the subwoofer and are NOT intended for direct connection to an amplifier.

You should be able to use whatever amplifier has audio inputs from your TV, and regular speaker wire connections out.

How do I hook up klh 2503 speaker system

You need a stereo receiver or Hi-Fi amplifier to drive these speakers.

The amp or receiver will have red and black speaker terminals to match up with the speakers. Use some speaker wire to make the connections.

Once the amp and speakers are connected, you can add a source. The source could be your PC, TV, games console, MP3 player.

Denon avr-1804/884, speakers Bose vcs center, Bose acoustimass 5 series 3 speaker system, Bose 201 series 4. All speakers play in test mode, with tuner, dvd, phono, cassette. The left side speakers will...

You don't say how "TV audio" is entering the system.

My guess is you're using analog audio Out from the TV into an analog input on the Denon. One channel failing would probably be the Left Channel cable failing or not seated.

I always recommend bypassing the TV audio entirely if the programming comes from somewhere other than its own antenna, as TV audio electronics add nothing good to the process.

If you're using cable box, sat box, game, whatever, ITS audio is best sent directly to your Denon's specialized audio hardware - digitally, if possible, to preserve multichannel possibilities.

You could also run standard analog audio from the cable box to the TV analog Audio IN if you just want to watch news and weather on TV speakers without the Denon involved.

Have a pair of Cyrus 781 speakers and would like to use the output of a Flat screen TV or Blue Ray Player. What type of cable can I use?

Unfortunately, you can't just hook those speakers to your TV or DVD player. Those devices only offer "line-level" audio outputs that aren't strong enough to drive loudspeakers directly. Those outputs are meant to be fed into the inputs of an amplifier of some kind, and then the speakers are driven by the amplifier.

On some TV sets there may be an external speaker connector, but the amplifier isn't meant to drive serious speakers. The manufacturers intend those to be used with optional soundbars or speakers they want to sell you. Use them with "real" speakers and you might wind up damaging the amplifier over time.

So the real answer to your question is "no kind of cable". If you do get an amp or home theater receiver, you'll need audio cables with RCA plugs from the sources to the amp, and regular speaker cable (18-gauge, and don't waste your money on "Monster Cable"!!) from the amp to the speakers.

How can I run the audio from the tv through my receiver/amp and speakers ?

You can't, at least not from the TV directly. This set doesn't have any audio output jacks for connecting to an external amplifier. If you're using the TV all by itself, on a cable system without a converter box, for instance, there's nothing you can do. But if you're using a cable box, satellite receiver or other set-top box, you could run the audio output from that device to the amp and turn the volume down on the TV. In this case, you're not running the sound from the TV to the amp; you're running the sound from the source to the amp and just using the TV as a video monitor, but the result is the same.

We cant find the right cords or hookups to our speakers and how do they hook up to your tv

Speakers don't hook directly to a TV unless your TV is unique and has its own amplifiers (not likely). Speakers are driven by amps, amps are usually inside a receiver and IT would connect to your TV to receive sound program. However, the TV usually has serious audio limitations (or we wouldn't need receivers and after-market speakers, right?) so why not get the audio IT monitors from the source itself and conenct it directly to the controlling receiver, which specializes in audio?

Digital optical output for technics 5.1 surround sound receiver

I went to the HDTV plasma manual. It stated the only way the digital optical audio output would work (from this TV) was to go to the menu, select audio and turn off the TV speakers. Basically, it had nothing to do with the technics receiver.

How do i hook external speakers to sony bravia television

The proper way to do this would be to use the audio output from the TV, either analogue left and right or the optical port, and send it into an dedicated amplifier or AV receiver. You can then use the amplifier or receiver to power the external speakers. If you are using a dedicated amplifier with no volume control you will want to change the audio output setting on the TV to "variable out" as oppose to its current "fixed out"settings. You can find this in the TV menu, usually under the audio settings. This will allow you to use the current TV remote to adjust the audio volume coming out of the external speakers.

HDTV and connecting speakers...

I have over 10 years experience in electronic tech support.

If your TV has audio output jacks on the back, then you don't need an amp or receiver. These jacks use traditional composite cables that are red and white in color. I'm talking about the same kind you use with a dvd player.

F.Y.I. A lot of TVs don't have composite audio outputs, but they will have what's called an optical audio output. That type has to be used with an amp or receiver because you can't plug that type of line into any speaker.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Samsung ht-thx 22 , no sound

You might want to try checking the connections into the receiver, and ensure that the cable system or antenna is connected directly into your receiver, and that you are using the tuner with the receiver, not the one on the TV.
