Also, it'll run an x report fine but trying to run a z report results in more beeping. Running off the full programme list (Programme 3, Subtotal Subtotal) shows FSTD at the top where I'd expect it to say CASH. I tried taking out the batteries and leaving it unplugged overnight but it didn't clear the programme and still doesn't work.
Firstly, try this:
turn key to program mode.
0
CASH
SUBTOTAL
3
SUBTOTAL
0
CASH
SUBTOTAL
turn back to REG mode and try it.
Testimonial: "Unbelieveably helpful and a really, really quick response"
Sadly I already tried that. Ot's so much that the flags are set wrong on the cash button, it's almost like the cash button has been reprogrammed to be a different button entirely. Is it even possible to remap the buttons like this? Also is there a way to completely factory reset the thing? After a night with no batteries and not plugged in it retained all the PLU descriptions and so forth, is there another battery hidden in there somewhere or a button combination that will completely factory reset it so I can start from scratch?
That would have reset the flags and preset amount on the button so it sounds like someone has really screwed with your machine. Next, try allocating a new cash button over the other one: Turn key to program mode. 4 SUBTOTAL 01 CASH SUBTOTAL. Turn key back to REG mode and try it
That's fixed it! Thanks ever so much, you're a legend.

SOURCE: casio cash register not working
error code 1 on your cash register is due to Mode switch position changed before finalization
you can fix this error by Returning the mode switch to its original setting (does not beep) and finalize the operation
SOURCE: im trying to set up
It has not been initialised properly.
Try this
Take the batteries out again, turn off at the wall. Set key to REG mode. Turn on at wall. Put batteries in.
