I installed jkp55wm1ww double oven November 07. I had the overlay panel replaced in August 08 because the panel bubbled up and cracked. The second panel needs replacing again after 5-6 months. Is there supposed to be a heat shield or deflector between the top of the top oven and the control panel? There was none included.
I had the same oven panel overlay bubbling problem on my GE oven purchased in 2008. It started peeling and bubbling within the 1 yr warranty, and GE sent me a replacement panel. This new part began bubbling again within 4 months. Again, I called but now they say it's out of warranty and they will not replace it. Obviously there's a manufacturing defect in this part. The panel looks terrible. It appears that GE no longer cares about the quality of their products.
had same panel, GE will replace it ,there is a new style slightly different ,the heat made it bubble they will replace it out of warranty,call customer service
Yes, they now fix it! I was told I have to wait a month for the black ones. But they will send out a service tech, no charge
I too bought a new GE ,built in over in 2008. JKP30WOMIWW. Within months the control panel's covering started to bubble and lift up. I had not even used the oven, so heat was not a factor. Just before the warranty expired, I called to have it fixed. The service man fixed it in about 10 minutes. The new replacement started to bubble within months. I knew it was out of warranty, so just decided to live with it. Now I need to sell my house, and the panel looks horrible. Again, I have only cooked in the oven twice since I had the new part installed....so heat should not be a factor. I called to get it fixed a second time and learn it will cost me $100 for the service call, and $92 for the "labor" to replace this faulty part. It is a load of **** that the part is warranted for 5 years since it probably cost a couple of dollars for a plastic overlay with printed word... but you have to spend almost $200 to replace it. There is no working parts. But, to get it installed cost $92!!!! I WILL NEVER BUY GE AGAIN.

G.E. has now acknowledged their manufacturing defect with the panel and will replace it free of charge (parts and labor) even if it's out of warranty. Call their 800 number to arrange.
Call GE Recall Dept @ 866-622-6184. I was told that Part# WB27T10968 has been recalled. You will need to supply your oven's Model# and Serial#. GE will send you, free of charge, a kit to replace the whole Face Plate. It will need to be installed. A GE Technician would charge about $199, however the CSR told me it could also be installed by a handyman or electrician. I called today on 03/03/17 and was told it would take about 3-5 business days to get the kit.

I had the same problem twice. I bought a GE oven from Sears and I got an electronic problem with that GE oven. Sears replaced my oven for a new one and then 6 months later I got this bubbled up and cracked problem. Sears replaced the overlay panel for a different one. After 9 months, I still have the same cracked problem.
I have just called Sears to replace it.
What do you think they will do? Replace the panel.What am I going to do in 6 months. Call Sears again,until my warranty expires.

I have the same problem with my ge oven. I bought it in November 2007, installed it in Feb. 2008 when my custom cabinets were complete, and the over-lay panel bubbled and cracked in multiple places at the end of September, beginning of October 2008. SEARS, where I bought the oven from, will not warranty it, stating we did not buy the extended warranty and the manufactures warranty does not cover it. Model # jtp70w0m1ww. DUE NOT BUY THIS OVEN!!!!!!!!!
I'm on my third overlay panel. GE fixed the first one under the 12 month warranty but now it's $120 a pop to put a new one on. Otherwise I'm happy with the oven - to bad they failed with this one critical part!
