First, check the door switch. When you push and release it you should hear a click. If no sound is heard, replace the door switch with this part.
If the switch is good, then the thermal fuse is bad. Here is that part.

Here is a video to show you how to replace the door switch.

SOURCE: Whirpool dryer won't heat up

You need to replace the thermal fuse and the timer. A bad timer will over draw a thermal fuse and cause it to blow.

Please remember to unplug the dryer before servicing

SOURCE: Element heats, dryer tumbles, no heat in drum, never shuts off

Hi, If the dryer heats but will not advance in either time or auto cycles, you need to change the timer.
You can test to see if the timer is getting voltage. Remove the top rear panel and locate the two wires going to the timer motor. There should be 120V when the dryer is running in time dry.
Please let me know if this helps or if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

Our Whirlpool gas dryer, Model # LDI5701W1 stopped working in the middle of a cycle. Power supply is fine. With door closed, I can't hear the timer humming. Could it be a door switch, timer,?

it maybe but here is a website that shows how to test them, it may be a loose or broken wire, a reset button on the motor, or other things:

Whirlpool LTE5243D Top Load Stacked Dryer heats sometimes and not others

couple things this could be lets start obvious
faulty door switch even though door latches doesnt mean its working properly
bad guages easy to check dont have to run dryer just guages
turn on setting let run threw cycle if it stops on cycle and dont move for a length of time this will be the problem

these 2 things are main causes of why a machine wont work or partcially works at times everything else is easy
