SOURCE: 2375 poulan chain saw brake is shot, how do I fix it?

You Likely by this time have resolved this. Mine messed up one day and I found a spring inside it. This spring wraps around the counter weights and pulls them together at idle speed, allowing the chain to stop, without stopping the motor. As you throttle it up and the RPM increases the spring allows the weights to push outward , engaging the chain. I have used mine without it, but I'm sure that would not be a recommended procedure, as the chain is always engaged, even when idling.

SOURCE: poulan Super 1800 16" chainsaw .

Hi dortfran,
My name is Dennis and I hope to be of assistance.
This sounds like a kink in the chain and I would try a new chain because this can be a very small kink and very difficult to find and straighten out. If you must put the chain saw in a vise by clamping the bar and run the chain back and forth from the sprocket to the bar grove under operating tension and locate the misalignment at the bargrove. Now you have located the problem but the fix is still sweat away, and with some luck you may be able to spring the chain straight and have the link flexable to opporate without a hitch.
Glad to be of assistance. Please rate the solution because i can learn from your rating.
Thank you
Dennis

SOURCE: poulan pro series chain saw 20" bearings seizing up on bar

There's a tiny hole on the front of the bar near the bar sprocket. This is used to grease the sprocket. If you go somewhere like Lowe's look in the chainsaw section and you'll find a grease tube that is specially designed to lube the front sprocket. Before lubing use a small wire to clean out any debris from the whole. Press the lube tube against the hole and push repeatedly until grease comes out from the outside of the bar. This should greatly extend the life of the bar.

SOURCE: locate exploded drawing of poulan chain saw

I tried a couple locations and found a site that might help go to psep.biz and it will direct you to the blowup. It also indicated that it needed a type number so have that handy. If this doesn't help let me know and I will research further.

How to Change chain on Poulan pro PP5020AV

Most chain saws have on their right side either a knob or two nuts that loosen the bar so you can push it back to allow slack in the chain. The knob may have a flip latch that locks in place, and you flip over to allow you to turn the knob counter clockwise.
make sure the start switch is off first

How to start poulan 18 inch wildthing chainsaw

Hello Wade,
There should be starting instructions on back on saw, if not its usually the same for most saws. Fill tank with proper mixed fuel. Add bar and chain oil if necessary. Pull knob out to "start" position. Pull choke all the way out. Prime unit 6 times. Place saw firmly on floor, slide right foot under handle and have left hand firmly on top handle. Pull throttle and lock it in high. Pull rope 4 to 5 times until unit pops. Then, set chock lever on half.(this is usually pushing in half way). Pull rope again 4 to 5 times until unit starts, then after 30 seconds or so push choke knob in to turn choke off. If this procedure doesn't work, give it 10 minutes or so, because unit may be flooded, then try again. Good luck!

The choke on a Poulan Chain Saw that I just bought will not stay out to start it.

There are two types of choke systems, the basic choke has a ball and spring in the carb body which locks the choke either in or out, the other type is connected to the half throttle position, once pulled out it stays out, however if you lift the throttle trigger it will go back in on its own, queation, are you holding the throttle trigger whilst trying to start it, if so this is why it will not stay out, if this is not the case, pull the choke out with a little more force, it may be just not coming out enought to lock.

Chain saw won't start

Before you try to start it, push the primer bubble on the side 3 or 4 times, then pull the choke all the way out. On poulans they can be tricky. When pulling the choke button out, make sure it does not go back in. After you pull the crank rope and you hear it "hit" push the choke back in and pull the crank rope again. It should start after that. If it still won't start, check for a faulty spark plug.
