What's your problem?I was camping last week and the compressor on my Coleman Mach 3 a/c unit came on with the thermostat in the off position. I switched off the breaker and let it sit for a while.

I would check thermostat first. Remove compressor wire from thermostat and see if that cures starting by itself.

SOURCE: Compressor starts and doesn't stop

Relay for the compressor may be stuck ( Contacts welded) both the fan and the compressor should operate at the same time. Have the relay(s) checked and possibly replaced.

SOURCE: a/c tripping breaker during peak heat of day

Chances are you have a bad breaker or loose wires on the breaker. What size breaker do you have on unit. Heat of the day plus full load on the unit could cause it to trip. Rus

Compressor won't kick on

You should be able to hear the compressor kick in. If you don't the most likely culprit is the capacitors. I generally keep spare capacitors on hand at all times, because they are mostly likely to fail on a holiday or a weekend when it is 102 in the shade. If replacing the capacitors doesn't work, you want to look at the thermostat. You will have to look up manuals and testing for your thermostat. And if those things doen't solve your problem, sadly and lastly, you will want to do troubleshooting on the control module in the ceiling. The control module generally resides in the ceiling and you access it through the vent in the ceiling.

Here is where you can find manuals for your a/c unit. Click on the links under the tab for technical information. Airxcel RV Products Good luck!

Coleman Mach 15 AC just quit. no compressor sound, no fan

If this is a ducted unit, check the thermostat. It has a fuse for protection that may have blown. If the fuse is fine and you have power to the upper units control box, check for 120V incoming power at the control box and also check for incoming 12V on the Yellow and GH wires when tstat is set to high cool.

Hope this helps.

Coleman (RVP) 7000 AC unit compressor problem

I had a problem with my coleman mach 3 AC, we were at an RV park up at lake shasta CA and the fan would stay on but the compressor would come on for a few seconds and then trip off. It was the motor overload relay on the compressor that was tripping. the RV park was old and apparently the wiring to the panelboard at the RV park was too small, when you are drawing a lot of current there was too much voltage drop across their line, to make up for this the motor tries to draw more current and heats up the motor overload and it trips off. I solved this problem by buying an autoformer from Camping World, it senses a voltage drop and automatically boosts the voltage.

I am now having a seperate problem, the compressor is either locked up or has too much back pressure and trips off the service breaker when trying to start. The only solution I can see with my current problem is to replace the entire unit.

Coleman tsr mach 3 RV Air Conditioner

I don't think you need a new one just a good cleaning and service. The unit has a liquid high temperature line near the compressor with a fan blowing outside air across it this coil gets clogged over time with air-borne dirt and pollen and leaves and such and must be cleaned regularly or the unit will be unable to remove the heat from the coil and during the peak demand (3pm) the circuits that protect the compressor and the trailer wiring from being overloaded and burning or melting will trip. From what you have described it sounds like the RV is working as it should with a condenser coil that needs to be cleaned. GL and happy camping!
P.S. I've only serviced the occasional RV unit but in those cases I laid a piece of plywood on top of the Rv for work platform removed the retaining screws from the top cover and used a spray bottle with a good heavy foaming cleaner a shop-vac and a brush to get the job done.

the fan motor bearings need lub....the shaft has a tiny access hole to put some oil into. because the fan shaft is slowing down, it is putting more strain on the voltage current, and eventually the internal breaker shuts down the ac........plus your condenser is not getting enough air accross it, compressor heats up, and it too will shut the unit down......older units have to be oiled every year, and eventually it too will fail, and a new blower motor assembly is needed or replace the ac unit.....blower motor units are around $130....now you install it or pay to have it done at around another $150 labor,,,,,try yourself, if it fails then call the tech........let me know [email protected]
