SOURCE: Picture bends in different colors

your Convergence IC chips and resistors arre failing you need to replace them

below is a general disscussion post for a Philips TV which will help you to understand your situation and what you might need usally you will need (2) IC convergence Chips and usally (12) Resisitors what have to be soldered onthe the board after you remove the old ones. this fix usally cost you to do it yourself $30, to have a repair man do it cost around $300-450 a new board if avalible usally costs $250-300

Sorry, for the bad new I hope you have a friend that knows how to work on circuit boards...
good luck,

below is a general post about a philips TV Convergence problem you can read about keep inmind your CHIP and RESISTORS will proball be different type....

you need 2 Convergence IC's STK392-120's (120's and 150's will work) of course order 2 of the same type I'm using replacement 150's they allow for a little higher heat and were cheaper ALSO you need to replace the 12 resistors with 6.8 ohm metal film resistors, make sure they are metal film! don’t skimp out here I did and then they blew and fried my IC's and I had to replace everything again!

Great reference link that I posted
pictures on, check out page 3

Where I got my parts that worked:
Suburban Electronics
http://www.suburban-elect.com/
Manual Library you should find all you need here:
http://www.techlore.com/group/2/list_downloads

What you need:
(2) STK392-120 OR STK392-150 IC
chips
(12) 6.8 Ohm Metal Film resistors
set of star screw drivers
15 watt pencil solder pencil, DO NOT use a high watt iron you will fry the surface mounted item.
good leaded solder, and flux

TV will come on sometimes and sometimes not. When is does it is all red. When it does not is makes a wising sound and automatically goes off, display is still dark.

Hi,
According to the symptom the problem is relate to the CRT. One of three guns (Red,Blue,Green) causing problem. When it becomes short set goes on standby and when the carbon removes after some times of rest it becomes on, So you need to find which color is missing except red because it is present as you said in your question, now check which color is missing Blue or Green in picture. The one which misses, is faulty gun and needs replacement.
Please let me know for further help by reply in comments column.
Thanks

The tv keeps losing color

Hello,

The remaining red retrace are the giveaway that this is most likely not a CRT problem.

(If there were no red lines, it could be the filament for the red gun of the CRT going on and off due to a bad connection inside the CRT - bad news.)

How is a black and white picture? (Turn down the color control).

If B/W picture is good, then the problem is somewhere back in the chroma decoder circuitry.

Check the video input to the CRT video driver board and signals on that board. If B/W picture is also bad, then you can compare red and green signals to determine where they are becoming different. The red lines in your description sounds like the red video output circuit is drifting and messing up the background level, blanking, screen, or other setting. Could be a capacitor or other component.
Hope this will help...

MY MONITER CHANGES COLOR AND ITS PISSING ME OFF HOW CAN I DO IT. IT ALWAYS CHANGES COLOR MOST OF THE TIME IT CHANGES TO RED COLOR

One or two of your color guns are failing. On a CRT, there are three color guns, Red, Green, Blue. They work together to produce all colors in the spectrum. If the monitor goes all one color, it generally means at least one color gun is failing. The cost to repair far exceeds the value of the monitor or the price of a new LCD panel.

Mitsubishi Diamond Series T.V.

When a tv (Rear proyection) shows this coloration is the meanning that the red color is not there (the red color is generated by a red CRT). Now it can be really bad not having the tube working but before conclution make sure of this: (and if the red color gets back then the tube is ok)
  • is this condition the same in all inputs? or the picture looks ok with a different video source (VCR, DVD other)
  • are the menu letters same as the picture looks or are they fine?
If we cannot see any red color back with this testing, still chances that a technician find an electronic problem that make the tube to be off. so don't rush conclusions and get to the end to save the tv with out replacing the red tube, but if all was done and nothing then the tv needs the tube replacing.

Guns on their last leg- color fading

If you are asking about Guns in rear projection tv then answer is No.
Rear projection TV has 3 Guns (CRTs), red-green and blue and each gun has its unique color phosphorus coating to produce its mono color (red /green /blue) and these are not interchangeable.
Need further info, let me know.
