P4m80'0pro m7 ver 1.2 wont start, the fan spins less than one revolution, have tried other power supplies, memory etc
Bro, you can't fix bad capacitors on your mb. If it's under warranty then give your computer/mb manufacturer a call. Otherwise you gotta get a new one. FYI if you get a different model your os may have issues with it. If you have windows 7 you should be ok.
Thanks, I suppose I shold have been more specific, It is possible to replace bad capacitors on a MB and I know how to test caps when off the board I was hoping someone might have a method of testing them while on board and in parallel or seres making them hard to isolate. The waranty suggestion is valid, I comonly make warranty claims for my clients to whom I sell coputer parts. However the boards I am working on are no longer in warranty, The OS will be reloaded as a matter of couser after any majjor hardare change if I do put in a new MB. In fact these boards are not in machines at the moment, I am trying to get some more life out of them as most were pulled for bad caps etc. In the country where I live most people can't afford to just toss out and buy new components without trying repairs first. If anyone has any advanced component diag and repair knowledge I would be gratefiul for any helpful hints. Thanks!
There was a while in the early 2000's where a lot of mb had bad caps so you might be right. They might be rounded at the top if they're bad, if your lucky. Replace those first. Can you use small wires connected to your multimeter then to the caps?
Thanks, that's what I am finding, lots of mbs with bad caps but otherwise in good shape, the problem is not reaching the lcontacts with the test leads, all of them protrude through the back of the board making for eary access the problem is that when connected together it is just about impossible to get an accurate reading from a single one beause the others conencted to it are affecting the readings. But still it's possible to get an idea of which are bad of thery are really useless. Thanks

was that really all it was ? i have the same problem you had... computer not booting with this motherboard. I have tried everything !!! remove battery to clear CMOS use the jumper to clear the cmos change the keyboard, change the PSU, boot without RAM, change the RAM, put everything on a wood table (all outside of the case). Tried with all drives connected on the mobo, tried with no drives. I even changed the CPU but the other CPU i used, i wasn't sure if it was still OK tough. I checked to see if some connections were broken or something ... i'm about to try to find the 1-800 number of biostar, or send the mobo for a refund. What else could i try ?
SOURCE: Only the cpu fan spins
I have the same problem, the CPU fan spins, keyboard lights blink, no start up screen, or bios.
If I push a few times on the pc reset button, then the CPU fan is becoming still, the keyboard lights are out and (wonder!) I can start the computer again in a normal way.
Can this one be a temporally solution for you too?
I guess that can be electricity dysfunction of a wrong fixed cable.

It is more than likely that when your old power supply died a death, it damaged some components on the motherboard. Replace the Motherboard and chip, and you should be back in business. You can pick up some good value bundles to save money on buying the parts seperately. The power supply working again after turning off and on, is because there is a little trip in the power supply that triggers when it detects a fault. Powering down resets that trip allowing it to try and work again.

H there.
The beep codes you describe sound like memory issues or failure, take the
system memory out, clean the contacts and the slots with a clean, soft,
dry paintbrush. Re-seat the memory firmly and try boot the PC again.
Please post back with the results
Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

If you remove all the RAM fro the system and power it on, you should hear "Memory Error Beeps" if not, then it is usually Motherboard or CPU, for around $30.00 you can purchase a PCI POST code reader to try to pin the problem down further.
I am assuming from the post that all PCI cards (dial up modem especially) have been removed. Sounds like a bad MB or CPU, but if the video is integrated,( built on the motherboard, and not a seperate card, the memory is responsible for video also, and it maybe defective.
