My console computer does not recognize the internet through the router, but I can use it with my laptop.

When I plug in the cable modem directly into the computer, the internet is fine.

I have the same problem, any answers there?

Hello fieldon68, & to all the rest with the same problem.

There are many things that could be wrong, but intermittant discounnects sounds very much like a interverance from another wireless device. (ie phone, cell, etc)

To try to address this issue, follow the steps below:
Note : The steps below are applicable only for Belkin routers.

  1. Open an Internet Explorer window on your computer and type in http://192.168.2.1 in the address bar. This will take you to the Belkin router's web based configuration page. If you are not able to open the page click here.
  2. You will get a login page. Leave the password blank. Click Submit ( unless you created a password, then enter that).
  3. On the left side of the page, click Channel and SSID below Wireless .
  4. The wireless channel on the Belkin router is set to Auto by defualt. Change the wireless to a static channel. Click Apply Changes .
  5. Click Logout in the top right hand corner.
Note: The wireless card in the computer will automatically detect the change in channel number on the router and will update the channel on the card.
CauseYou get disconnected wirelessly mainly due to an environmental interference. When the wireless channel is set to auto, the router will cycle to though channels when it detects significant interference. When the router changes channel the wireless connection will reset itself and disconnect all wireless clients connected to the router. Wireless signals are prone to interference from cordless phones and electrical appliances (e.g., vacuum cleaners, microwave ovens). This is one of the more popular reasons Belkin wireless connections can drop. Good Luck Mark P.S. Please leave a rating.

They have a new firmware to help resolve the connection problem with the prior firmware. Try and download it HERE.

    Good Luck

Internet connection lost every 30 minutes

CONTINUAL DISCONNECTION OF WIRELESS CONNECTION
There are a few things thatcan cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router.1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move thewireless router away from brick or concrete walls and if possible locatethe wireless router higher up.2. Have you secured yourwireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? i.e. change thedefault password, setup encryption use WPA2 or WPA, change the default SSID,and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC addressfiltering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s toconnect to your wireless router.3. You could be gettinginterference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, arc welders, washing machines etc. If so, the power supply to the wireless routers andcomputers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, betterstill connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted PowerSupply). 4. Check the channels ofthe wireless routers and access points in your area and change the broadcastchannel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that is currentlyused but has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize interferencewith your wireless router from other wireless routers and accesspoints in your area.

I keep losing my internet connection when I use the wireless router. When I disconnect the wireless router, internet works great but when I reconnect it it keeps cutting out. I unplug it for ten seconds...

Try changing the channel to 11. Cordless landline phones often interfere with the default router channel. It can even be your neighbors phone that is conflicting.

My computers keep losing connection and reconnecting.

Try changing the FREQUENCY of the router, you probably have interference coming from an other source (baby monitor, wireless phone, RF transmitter, etc...)

Cheers!

I lost my passphrase of my dlink router

There should be a reset button located on the back on the router. Hold on that button for about thirty seconds or so and resetup the router with the password.

Hi, Expert: I am using NETOPIA 33347 wireless Router for home networking. I can not reset the router for my wireless laptop computer. Wireless light is not turned on and can not access to router from my...

Greetings my name is Mark and I will be glad to assist you. First unplug the router power and let it stand for thirty seconds. Second locate a small hole in the rear of the router it will not be marked. Third insert a small paperclip in the hole, you will feel a click when you do this, hold the clip in place for thirty seconds, at the same time you are holding the clip in place re-connect the power to the router and count to thirty seconds. Remove the clip and allow the router to re-boot for two minutes. It will reset to factory default and you will be able to access the router through a hardwired computer connection. Open your internet explorer and in the address bar type "192.168.1.100" your user name is andmi and your password is admin this should default your router and you can make the necessary security changes. Take care,
Be mucho blessed,

Lost wireless connection WRT54G

I have had similar problems with my home wireless connections for years, across several different brands of routers. By far the quickest solution that I've found is to simply reboot the router; either using the command interface from a computer connected via ethernet; or by unplugging it, waiting 30 seconds, and reconnecting the power.
