Hi rab, windows in general will not allow you to go back wards to ME. Some laptops & other systems place a hidden partition at the top of the drive. These hidden partitions normally are around 2-4Mb in size. (Not enough for windows to finish install). So go to the link provided & create a bootable CD/DVD.
Darik's Boot And Nuke will completely erase the drive, (Including any hidden partitions). You can than install ME without an any issues. Download Darik's Boot and Nuke 1.0.7

My computer starts on first attempt only

Hello the homepage is here:

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5KPLAM/#download

Try to renew the graphic driver by:

Select windows xp.
Open the vga folder and click on global for download.
Unzip the file before you install.
Uninstall the old driver before you install the new.

The fault could also be the power supply, or a ram module failing.
I recommend at least 2 gb ram, for a smooth running system.

You can add a graphic card in the pci-e socket on the mainboard for better performance instead useing the onboard graphic.

Just make sure the windows system is driver supported.

Good luck

Windows xp will not install my hp officejet 7310 all-in-one printer after i uninstallit? i keep getting a 1603 error or can't remove the old webreg?

If problems arise while installing or uninstalling the software, download this removal utility to uninstall the HP All-in-One software before attempting software reinstallation. IMPORTANT NOTE:
This utility removes only version 4.2.0 of the driver.
Running the removal utility may remove the drivers and software for other HP printing, scanning or digital imaging products.
This utility works in stages. The first time the utility is used, it runs at level one. The next time the utility is used, it runs at level two. There are four levels. The effects of each level are shown in the table below.
Uninstaller level Description 1 Removes the Windows device discovery (Plug and Play) entries from the Windows registry. After running level 1, connect the USB cable to the all-in-one and let Windows try to discover the device again. 2 Performs Level 1 and removes the software drivers. After running level 2, run the all-in-one installer and use the "Add a new device" option to attempt to reinstall the all-in-one again. 3 Performs Levels 1 and 2 and removes the HP Photo and Imaging software. You must completely reinstall the all-in-one software after running level 3. 4 Performs Levels 1, 2 and 3, and removes HP Software Update. You must completely reinstall the all-in-one software after running level 4. Installation instructions:
  1. Click the Download now button.
  2. When prompted, choose Open or Run to start the download and run the installer.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions.

When I installed and tried to run your program I get the following error: This application requires using the 4.73 help system or a more recent version. I am running Windows 7. What is the problem? Can...

The specs for that program shows the last operating system it was designed for was XP. Let's try the easy fix first. ClickStart, type Compatibility in the search field, and click theEnter key. This will bring up the Program Compatibility troubleshooter. ClickNext and it do a quick check on your machine. It will ask you toSelect the program you're having problems with and click Next. Click Troubleshoot Program, then check the box forThe program worked in earlier viersions of Windows... Click Windows XP (Service Pack 2)and click Next. Click the box for Start the program. It will attempt to open the program as if you were running XP. After the program attempts to open, clickNext. Now it will ask if it worked for you. If so, click Yes, save these settings for this program. If you clicked Yes, every time you open the program now it will open as if it was running in XP. You're done if this worked!
Sometimes that method doesn't work. For those cases, there is a new feature called XP Mode, which will install a virtual machine for you to run your program in. It's not too hard to get configured; it actually installs a legal copy of Windows XP for you to run your program in. Here's a Microsoft article on how to get it set up: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/. XP mode will now work even if you don't have the chip installed for Hardware Assisted Virtualization Technology.

if your asking to install XP on top of vista.. if you do not like vista, then ur listening to your friends who have no idea what their talking about because its awesome and when windows 7 comes out youll be stunned...this is verry easy if you have XP disc ready, restart your computer you need to wipe ur hard drive to get rid of the old operating system, first save any thing you want thus wiping hard drive saves nothing.... techniquly its still there but ya....put in disc of XP and run the disc to install XP,. Toshiba Portege 7100 SlimLine Notebook

they should be the same the close number just means that they revised something... most laptops have builtin wi fi but if it doesnt just buy a cheapie usb or pc slot card! I would NOT reccomend that you install windows vista on your pc.....there are still yet too many problems with them and you will have A VERY hard time getting drivers that are compatible

as far as the rest of the specs... ask the seller! they should know or see if it says on the ebay auction page

Just installed P5G- motherboard, runing windows XP eror code purple wont run, any ideas

Normally Windows XP will not boot if you switch out motherboards, not unless it has the exact same chips as the old one.

If you have your Windows XP install cd, you can try a repair install.

When the installer asks you if you want to do a new install, or run the repair console, hit new install. It will search for your old windows install and ask if you want to repair it.

Doing so will leave your applications and user accounts on your computer, and reinstall only Windows system files. It may ask you to put in your key code.
