The set likely has a light sensor on the front of it to change brightness with light changes in the room, if not in the menu to switch on or off contact LG to see with the model number what can be done.

I have seen some where the sensor had to be disconnected inside to correct this issue. Sets as far back as 50 years ago had this issue.

Why does my Toshiba tv screen go from dark to light?

The TV's main culprits to be causing this problem are "dynamic contrast" which maybe darkening the backl light in dark scenes an example a night time or a dark scene in a movie. To make the blacks be deeper (as LCD/LED TV are rubbish at blacks) or brighten it on bright scenes to make the light be lighter and once again to make the blacks be deeper so the images pop out. Also "eco lighting" this will dim or brighten the image based on the amount of light in a room in order to be saving energy. Ether way the easy fix is to turn both of these features off. You will get rid of the problem and enjoy more subtler shades of colour that would otherwise be bleached (brightend) or crushed(darkend) out..

My samsung smarttv picture darkens a couple of minutes after turning it on. I have the background lighting up as light as it goes, but tgat hasn't helped. Any suggestions?

This may sound redundant but, did you check out the onscreen munu, and go to " troubleshooting " ? If that doesn't help call the manufacturer of the TV.

LG 32 in TV (32LN530B0) -After connecting it to a digital converter box, the screen darkens when the room light darkens. How to keep this from occuring?

Go into your menu and disable automatic lighting usually on the picture menu. It also could be in the accessibility menu. The light meter that's on your tv is out of action as it is not working, so hopefully you can disable this useless piece of hardware. If you have HDR, then disable that also. You can have LG take a look at your tv remotely if your tv has that capability.

How to do flash light test on Toshiba model 50l1350u?

Disconnect everything from the tv.
Turn on the tv in a darkened room, turn on the flashlight and inspect the screen closely with the flashlight for any snow or text from the menu screen. If you see anything, your T-Con board and Main Board are ok.

JVC LT-52P789 no picture just sound

If this is an LCD TV, show a flash light on the screen from a safe distance. If you can see picture, it means the backlights have gone off and the TV might need servicing.

White corners SONY KDL52XBR6

This is called a dark shading error. All the LCD consumer sets have some visible degree of this effect. Some will be a little less or more than others even from the same batch in the assembly run. This has to do with the optical design quality of how the back-plane lamps illuminate the screen. The design and assembly tollerance of this area is very critical.

Normally, LCD screens don't show their best picture in a darkened room. The very black regions of the picture content may look a little washed out. LCD screens are best watched in a room that is lit, but not very bright. You have to consider that there is a powerful set of lights behind the polarized panel of the LCD display, and there will always be some breakthrough of light.

If you want a TV that is more like a CRT in its characteristics a Plasma would have been a good choice. The trade-off with the Plasma is that it does not have the picture sharpness of the LCD. A Plasma set is best watched in a darkened room.

If you have an LCD computer monitor, take a look at it in a dark room with a black screen. You will most likely see the dark shading errors. Only the very expensive production studio type LCD monitors have less of this error than the consumer sets, and they are not absolutely perfect.
