I have a 2006 lincoln zephyr that needed a new alternator....working underneth the car I had to take the a/c compressor off the get to the alternator...when i did this, the connector from the clutch broke a little. after putting everything back together and trying to refill/recharge the compressor, my 10AMP fuse keeps blowing under the hoodin the fuse box on the battery side. as far as i can tell, thats the only fuse that i can see that is related to the ac and compressor.... (ARE THERE ANY MORE? Relay maybe?) after going thru 3 fused, i decided to cut out the factory harness connection housing. 1. there are two wires on the a/c compressor clutch...(one red, the other red with a white dot above it close to the compressor) im thinking the one with the white dot above it is the positive wire. 2. the wires coming from the car are two as well...one is purple with a yellow stripe and the other is black with a yellow stripe. i dont know which is positive. 3. i took black 14 GA wire and red 14 GA wire and spliced the black with the solid red on the compressor. then i took the red 14 GA and spliced it with the red wire with the white dot above it on the compressor. hooked everything back up underneth. 4. i then connected the new solid black from the compressor and connected it to the black with yellow stripe 5. i then connected the new solid red from the compressor and connected it to the purple with a yellow stripe turned on a/c, fuse blew...so then i swapped the connections (red with black with yellow stripe and black with purple with a yellow stripe) put in new fuse...turned on a/c...fuse blew.... am I missing something here? It was working before i started this whole thing...someone told me that the fuse keeps blowing cuz there isnt enuff freon in the compressor but how can i recharge system if compressor cluch isnt spinning? PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE THIS THING OUT? I AM AT A LOSS. what wire shold be connected to what, how can i tell if the clutch is bad or not? Thank You so much for your time

YES the yellow black is for the light circuit, hook it up and buy the way you can get a replacement plug for the alternator at any decent parts house.good job spotting the broken wire have a good day DB

you don't have enough pressure in your system. odds are you have a leak someplace and the factory installed a saftey switch to keep the ac from running when there is no pressure. This way you don't end up burning up your compressor.

Look on the relay for the terminal numbers.
Terminal 30 goes to the battery positive.Red Wire
The two terminal 87 go to the fog lights.Black Wires
Match the color wire with what you have on the relay connection for the rest of the wires.
Terminal 86 should connect to your low beam headlight.
Terminal 85 should go to the fog light switch.
The fog light switch should connect to the terminal 85 and the other terminal on the switch will connect to ground.

There may be extra wires you don't need. The basic set of wires on the radio is 4 pairs of colored wires--one black-striped and one plain for each speaker. Yellow is usually accessory power, red is hot, and black is ground. Some additional wires may be one for a power antenna, one for an external amplifyer, and one for facelight (in case it will run on dimmer)
The car should have the following corresponding wires:
Radio 12v--- orange
Radio Ground--- black
Radio Ignition--- yellow
Radio Illumination--- brown
Dimmer--- gray
Power Antenna--- pink (if you have one)
LF Speaker +/- tan - grey
RF Speaker +/- lt green - dk green
LR Speaker +/- brown - yellow
RR Speaker +/- dk. blue- lt. blue
The car or radio could have additional connectors, such as for a subwoofer, CD changer, etc.

Start pulling fuses, one at a time, with an AMP meter in series with a battery cable. When you find anything over a few Mili Amps still on,you found the item, assuming every system has timed out. Some may take 15 min to do so. 40 Mili Amp will always be there, to power memory, clock, etc.
