Being a 2 stoke there isn't much to tune up. the MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER IN A 2 STROKE IS GAS AND OIL MIXTURE,too much oil will foul plug no big deal. replace plug. too little oil in gas will wash the crome lining in the cylinder off and you won't have the compression need to burn the gas any more. once you get that straight crank the saw and run it wide open, it should be quick to react to the trigger, that is no stumbling until it finally turns up. if it don't have a small screw driver handy and turn down the screw for the run mixture until it runs as fast as it can. also let idle. it should run on idle as long as you don't turn switch off. if it loads up and quits turn in idle screw until it does idle right . that's about it. also always make sure chain on bar isn't sagging too much when not running. a loose chanin will cause uneven wear on bar and make a crooked cut.keep chain sharp. they dull quick.NEVER leave gas in tank for long periods of time. after each use drain tank and start until motor runs itself dry.

I have a craftsman gas chain saw model 358.352180. It leaks oil from underneath the saw even when not in use.

Make sure you drain the oil when storing your saw. That's because the saw is designed to supply a generous amount of oil to the chain and bar.

Duplicate Post
There is usually a sticker with a craftsman Model Number on it, often "358.Something". That number can be used to find an IPL and if you are lucky an OM here: Sears PartsDirect http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action Start at 1.5 CCW from lightly seated then tune for performance like this:
Carburetor Adjustment by Madsens.com
http://www.madsens1.com/saw%20carb%20tune.htm
CW is leaner; to lean will destroy the saw. If over tightened closed (CW) the adjustment screw faces are easily marred; marred adjustments are difficult to impossible to set properly.
Clean the air filter; adjusting with a dirty filter can cause a run lean condition once cleaned and the saw run.

There are 2 wav (sound - idle & full – may not be highlighted) files that I find most helpful, I think you will too. HTH

I need a owners manual for Craftsman 16'' chain saw modle 358.35161D I bought a reconditioned unit today but they don't provide an owners manual-----said to get one on the internet Wayne Heins Sr....

358.35161D did not work, 358351610 did (Operator's Manual):
http://www.managemyhome.com/mmh/lis_pdf/OWNM/L0807188.pdf

IPLs for you saw here (Craftsman):
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action?psid=26128416&sid=PSx20071217x00001a&OVMTC=Broad&site=&creative=3106507164&OVKEY=craftsman%20parts
Type "358351610" in the "By model number" window. and click search.

Your saw is almost certainly made by Poulan. I think this is the correct IPL (PP3516AVX Gas Saw).

There will differences in color, but you may save a few $ and response is usually faster.

16" craftsman chainsaw primer pfoblem

Check the condition of the fuel line and filter in the tank and to the carb and primer.Today gas and time will soften them allowing them to become blocked or leak.Replace if needed.

Diagram of fuel line for Craftsman 16" chainsaw

Your saw is a Poulan. Try converting the cc to a model number. A 2.2cc Craftsman is often a Poulan model 2200. go to this link and find something that appears the same under (POULAN-WEED-EATER).
http://www.ordertree.com/cms/illustrated-parts-list/9788.html
The IPL will help. Pay attention to the year there is a different area for older saws.
For a current saw Craftsman should have something available.

Oil & Gasoline

Hi Thomas, you can find bar oil for the chain at just about any hardware store. Just tell them you need chainsaw bar oil. The oil that mixes with the gasoline is called 2- cycle mix. They will have that also. You can find the 2- cycle mix at a lot of gas stations too but a lot of guys caution not to use the 2 - cycle mix that is made for outboard motors. . Hope that answered your questions.
