The only washer that I know that calls their pressure control valve a "spill valve" is Karcher. On their 3500 units it is under a 3/8" cap screw... which may have a marker seal of yellow or red paint on it. Removal is best acheived by removing the cap with a screw driver, note the orientation of a small bushing and remove it and then turning on the washer, with water supply attached. Be careful to hold a small bucket over the hole as the parts will pop out. The spill valve is the most common cause of the pressure not "kicking in". The first symptoms are usually a hesitation to "kick in", progressing to.... not kicking in at all. Unless the spill valve is broken at the stem, it can be "rebuilt" by replacing the orings, cleaning the housing cylinder and re-lubricating with "waterproof" grease.

Correction.....I was thinking this was a 3500psi unit, not a electric 1500psi unit. On that model the spill valve is under a plastic top hat cover held in place with a push-on stainless cap. The spill valve is what Karcher calls their flow controlled unloader. It is the most common cause of lack of pressure kick-in. Especially if this was preceded by increasing hesitation upon triggering. Yes, the most common cause of sudden loss of pressure would be a clogged nozzle tip on the end of the trigger wand.

You should put 'locktite' on the male thread and screw it in all the way and lock it there. That is how it works ,the spring keeps the valve at the bottom closed during high pressure operation. When the gun is released the part with the o-ring is forced down resulting in the valve opening and then the pressure is by-passed.Those dont normally give trouble. Look for a blocked nozzle or a restriction somewhere in your high pressure hose.

If the spill valve activates is "spills" water under the washer. There is a restriction or the pump has become inefficient and will not pump the volume and pressure it should at full RPM.

You should replace the thermal by-pass valve with a new kit, part number is 45803590
