Look and see if it appears as a monitor in your display settings, if it doesn't, then another good first step would be to update your video card drivers (go to this page and select "Video" then download " Intel Graphics Driver"). If none of this fixes it try the VGA cable with a different PC and see if it works.

SOURCE: Want to connect my Sony vaio VGN-A250 to Sharp 19'' LCD TV

Your laptop will have a VGA output or possibly a S-video out. For the VGA you'll need a standard VGA cable. Plug the cable in to your laptop and the PC input of your TV. If your TV does not have PC input it may have a DVI input. IF it does you can use a VGA/DVI adapter to plug it in. If it doesn't have a DVI input you can use the S-Video output on your laptop with a standard S-video cable. After the connection to your TV is made you will have to toggle alternate display by pressing and holding your [Fn] key and pressing F4, or F5, or another F# key. It's the one that looks like a TV screen. Press once to turn on output, press again to turn off your laptop screen, press again to go back to laptop screen only

I'd suggest ring back Sony support and tell them that your OS is Windows 7 - not Vista. Therefore, you need the upgraded VGA driver because the Vista driver is incompatible with Windows 7. Hope it all goes well. If my suggestion works for you, please do rate me. Thanks

Does the Sony VGN SF790 support hdmi cables? I would like to connect to my Sony Bravia TV

Hi.

No I'm afraid not. It only supports VGA out. If your TV supports a PC input then a male to male VGA cable will do. VGA does not support audio so you will also need an audio lead to connect to the TV too.

I want to connect my Sony Vaio VGN-NR120E to my TV Samsung. But I have no idea how to do that. Could you give me advice ...

Hi,
Your Sony vaio does not have any TV-out port to output the display on any analog TV. You can use your VGA (by using VGA cable) port to output your laptop on LCD / Plasma / LED TV (with a VGA port also)). If you still want to project to analog TV via the VGA port, you need to find a VGA to RGB adaptor. But bare in mind, it's hard to find one.
VGA port is like the port on computer monitor. RBG consist of three colored port.
Good luck ;)

How to hook my ns230e to my hdtv

Looking at the spec for that model - you only have a VGA output On you HDTV do you have a VGA input for PC connection, often HD TV do - if not then we will need the make and model of the TV and type of connections available - also need to check the grahics driver on the laptop to see if it supports TV out via VGA if its to be connected to a different input on the TV anyway LETS ASSUME YOU HAVE A VGA input on the TV TV:- probably has a PC input - which is a VGA connector looks like this http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/92/SVGA_port.jpg and then you select PC input on the TV to display whats connected to that port Laptop: - Now on the laptop, you will need to select the VGA output to work - there will be a picture of a screen on one of the F keys at the top of the keyboard, F4, F5 normally on laptops, My Sony uses F7 ---- (assuming F7) use the FN key and the F7 key together it will then toggle between the following <laptop only><laptop and VGA output><VGA output only>
