You may find that the footpedal is faulty however there is a place on your footpedal where you can adjust the speed.. or sensitivity it takes a small screwdriver, have alook at your pedal is there a tiny screw or little hole maybe a plus or minus sign on it
thank you so much. it actually worked.. i could not find the plus or minus sign on the pedal.. but when i opened the pedal...i did see two screw nails which i adjusted with a screw driver and it actually worked.. now the pedal stops when i raise my foot. thank you so much.. was really helpful.
i am glad.. most machines are rock steady look on you tube for videos and there are facebook groups left right and center I am a machine embroider.. take care out there.. paula4u

SOURCE: Machine slows down, stops, starts again. Foot control problem?
Yes it does sound like a faulty foot control. The power cord is probably fine, you just need the controller. Ebay is a good source for parts.

Hi, I had the same problem, but I finally found my manual. The solution is that you have to use the presser foot for buttonholes but the most important part is that you have to lower the buttonholer lever. It is located right next to the needle to the left. It is a metal lever with a little square white plastic end. You need to pull that down in order the the buttonhole feature to work. My button was too big for the buttonhole presser foot, so I had to use the regular presser foot, but hit the buttonhole lever with my had to make it go up or down.

Mine does the exact same thing. I think the problem might lie in the cord to the foot pedal. The cord packs into the foot pedal for storage, which forces the cord to to remain bent during storage. I believe the wires in mind became damaged and broken so I took it apart and reconnected the wires at the spot where the connector meets with the wires. But I still don't leave it plugged in if I'm not using it, it could be a fire hazard.

Many older sewing machine (and some newer ones too) have radio-interference-suppression capacitors fitted in the foot controls to eliminate motor noise being radiated back down the mains power line. Many of these, especially the ones fitted across the rheostat (speed controller) in the foot pedal go partially or fully short-circuited, this meaning the machine starts sewing when the foot controller is plugged in. The solution is simple: get a qualified serviceman to take the capacitor out of circuit to see if that fixes the problem. If it does, then a replacement suppression capacitor of a suitable high voltage, at least 1,000V working, should be sourced and fitted. Just removing the faulty cap is not recommended and there is likely to be radio interfence spread all around the neighbourhood if you run the machine without the suppressor. The Radio Inspectors will not be amused. Good Luck.
