Using the buttons on the side of the tv:

-hold one of the Volume buttons in and then press the Menu button.
-your screen should now read "Reset Lamp Timer?" with an "OK" box in bottom right side.
-press the "Enter" button on the side of your tv to acknowledge the change and your timer should be reset.

Good Luck!

I have a Vivitek RP51HD41-A TV. The TV keeps turning off and on. The color and sound is fine. I have replaced the lamp and this has not fixed the problem.

If its a DLP it may have a color wheel which could be your problem (the colors will change etc)

Color wheels move at high speed and if slow down set will shut down.

The wheel if there will face the lamp. If often if failing will make a high pitched whine or a fan like sound.

One year to the date television stopped working ,,, tv would start blinking and could hear but not see

This happened to me also. I just made the deadline to receive a replacement lamp from Vivitek by 2 days, because of the warranty. If not, I would have had to pay $250. This happened in 2009. My replacement went out in Dec, 2010 and I can't find a replacement anywhere. Order a new lamp, hope this works.

New lamp, still no picture

You need to replace the ballast board the powers the lamp.

Viviteck 56''in.HDTV DLP TV. replaced with a new lamp bulb since I replaced this the tv wont come on only the sound for about 5 seconds then tv is silent again. any tips, Please.

The first thing to check on any TV that has a replaceable lamp is to make sure the lamp door is back on and seated correctly. You also need to make sure that the lamp is seated all the way in. The lamp door and in most cases the lamps have saftey switches they have to activate for the TV to work normal.

Vivitek 56 inch dlp projection is humming. why and how to fix

In my experience, the humming means your color wheel is going. The bearings inside the wheel are probably giving out.
My Vivitek started humming a couple of months ago and first I replaced the lamp.
Still hummed.
I read in other forums that humming is linked to color wheels and that seemed like where the noise was coming from.
I purchased a new wheel online and replaced it myself...
..no more humming, the picture is great and now I can listen to the movie again...not the tv!

On the side of the TV press the menu and volume up buttons at the same time for three seconds. The 'reset lamp timer?' will appear on the screen. Press the OK button to accept. You're done!
