I have a Maytag "Dependable Care" gas dryer, model number LDG 9606AAE. The dryer tumbles and the motor runs, but the dryer is NOT HEATING UP. I went on-line and found some information regarding a thermal fuse and a heating element. Is that what's wrong? If so, how do I check to see if that's it? How do I dismantle it to replace the parts?

SOURCE: maytag dryer not heating up thus not drying clothes

This is usually a simple heating coil malfunction. The coil may have breaks in it causing it not to work. It could also have something to do with 1 of several heating sensors that may be broken, telling the dryer's heating coil that the dryer is too hot, in effect turning off the heating coil. If your dryer has a round lint filter in the rear of the drum, it was 1 of 2 models of Dependable care dryers produced in the 1970's. If this is the case, i supose it would be up to you whether you want to try and get it repaired or not. If you have one of the more recent models,,, the lint filter is directly behind the door, at the front of the drum. and in this case it would probably be a good idea to get it looked at it as Maytag is a relatively dependable brand.

SOURCE: Maytag dependable care plus washer (Model LAT

The belt turn the pulley, but the height of the pulley is worn out so it didn't push up a mechanism to release the brake and to engage with the clutch to make the spin.
You have to takethe shaft out to study how it works then it makes sense on what I 'm talking.
The pulley cost only $11 but it is a major laboring exercise. It is a good learning to have hands on to this problem. Good luck on replacing the pulley.

SOURCE: Maytag Dependable Care M# LAT9416AAE will not

It sounds as if the floating motor mount is no longer floating or the 2 springs inside of that floating / gliding mount are not working correctly. There are also 4 hard rubber clear washers that are part of the gliding mount. If any one of the 4 of those washers has broken the motor does not glide properly and will not tighten the belt properly for the spin cycle to work. Make sure the unit is unplugged reach underneath the left front corner and feel for a 2 V belt groved pulley. First push the pulley inward 45 deg from the corner and let it go.... If it is working properly it should automatically tension the belt. If is sticks in position the either the springs or washer have failed. This is not an expensive repair. IF you call for a repairman make sure he checks the condition of the tub drive belt. The motor has been placing undue wear on the drive belt due to it being loose.

I have a Maytag Dependable Care Heavy Duty dryer and it makes an awful noise when it runs, also it isn't heating what should I do?

the knocking is either a belt that is going or one of the wheels is broken(they ride on three or four wheels). and those fixes are fairly inexpensive. but if it is also not heating, that can be inexpensive or not. maybe a new one, or fairly new via craigslist. how old is your dryer. over 10-12 years, maybe replace this one

Your timer motor is bad. It is very similar to a clock motor and it drives the timer on your dryer.

My Maytag LDG Dryer ignites but no gas comes on and it dosent heat up

i am sending you all the possibilities for your problem, check either of these causes ----and than let me know if it is solved----

Power from the house
Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.

Heating element
Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.

Thermal fuse
On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

Wiring
A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

MAYTAG GAS DRYER TUMBLES BUT NO HEAT (FRONT LOADER 6 YRS. OLD)

Hello maryfitgera,
It certainly sounds like you are not getting a flame established in your dryer. That can be one of several components such as a non-resettable thermal fuse, gas valve assembly or control relay to that gas valve assembly. Unless you are well versed on how to work on these kinds of components, I suggest you just call in an appliance tech or.. let me know if you want to attempt diagnosing and repairing it yourself. Be advised that there are elements of danger in so doing. Let me know how you want to procede on this and I'd be happy to walk you thru it..
Regards,
Rick
