Hello try to search at the homepage by using the product number:

http://www.avermedia-usa.com/avertv/Support/Download.aspx?Type=Driver

If not there you have to buy a new one.
Because the software does not fit a newer
windows system.

If you stlll have the the software try to install in
compatibiblity mode. But it will probably not run on 64 bit system.

Everything worked fine before I updated my computer to windows 7. When I try to reload my avermedia ultratv 1500 setup starts but nothing happens after that

You need to visit Avermedia's website and check for a driver modified for Win 7. MS is not really responsible for updating drivers from others so when some basic functions change, the hardware provider should make the changes needed and provide them on their website.
