WiFi not connecting to cisco router

I have a palm t/x. I've been able to use the wifi at friends and some stores but when I'm at home even standing right beside my wireless router it doesn't detect a signal. I've manually entered my ssid and password but still nothing. My laptop and x-box found the signal once the password was entered. Any ideas.

Most likely the Palm "listens" on another frequency.

Make sure your cisco is running the Wireless b standard as that is what the Palm Tx needs.

Mixed mode is another option (b and G at the same time)

Let's say your router is supporting the b standard. Knowing the cisco APs a bit, it is also possible to have a channel selected that an older device cannot see/or it is set for another region (which in fact is the same, as frequency ranges are different for each continent).

There are many tools for WIFI analysis, many are free. They will tell you what your router is transmitting at, etc... withouth having to go into the cisco IOS.

Cisco wifi codes

It means the router is configured for wireless access, but is not broadcasting or advertising the connection name. You can ignore it (it's harmless) or you can connect to the Cisco router and either look for an find the name, or turn on broadcasting.

If you don't have access to the router, you can try a 'sniffer' software to look at the wireless packets, but that's a bit complicated.

EdiMax Br-6482nS doesnt give internet

A router is only used to connect devices together in a LAN (local area network). In order to get out to the internet you also will need a modem (cable or dsl depending on your service) You will also need to pay for service through an ISP (Internet Service Provider)

Not Connecting

Hello, Richevekelly -

You may just need to take some steps to boost your WiFi signal and / or WiFi speed.

Reade the information here:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/tech-tips-and-tricks/how-to-increase-wifi-speed.html

I also found this information on how to boost a WiFi signal using aluminum foil:

http://www.techiepaw.com/boost-wifi-signal-with-aluminum-foil/

It seems like such a McGyver hack, I had to provide it . . . if only for fun. :)

Best wishes.

Will not connect to wifi

Check your wifi settings in the computer to make sure the wifi is turned on and that the security key, WEP or WPS key, are the same in the computer and the router if you have security enabled. If you have an HP computer and a CISCO router try using a different WiFi channel, the router should have 10 channel options if it is a Cisco router and the default channel doesn't always work with HP computers.

Nintendo wii

If you havea WiFi router that you use for internet then you can do this very easily by adding your WiFi settings to Wii in settings. This will also allow you to get Wii software updates and use the Store where you can download games etc.

Your friend will also have to have a WiFi router in his home with internet access and he'll also have to add those settings to the Wii.
