Kenmore 417 40042290 front loading washing machine has basically stopped spinning. It runs through the entire cycle and the clothes are soaked at the end. Sometimes it spins a little during the cycle. However, most of the time it does not spin and it makes a sound like it is trying to spin. Do you have any ideas what the problem might be?

I cleaned 88 cents and three bobby pins out of the drain, but it still did not fix the problem. Any suggestions?
I stuck my finger in the pump and didn't find anything. However, the machine drains the water quite well. Do I need to replace the pump or is there something else that I should check that might control how the machine spins?
