SOURCE: Dell dimension 2400 blinking amber light

1. Remove All External Devices
2. Check the Computer's Power LED
3. If the power LED has not changed unplug the Power Cable From the Computer Disconnect All Hard Drive Power and Data Cables and power on the computer. If still no go.
4. Remove All PCI, PCI-E, and AGP Expansion Cards .
5. Remove All Memory From the Computer
6. Reseat the ATX and 12-Volt Connections . The ATX connector will be a 4 pin square connector connecting to the motherboard from the power supply and the 12-Volt Connection would be the biggest connector with a lot of colored wires.
7. If still no go.
8. Disconnect the Power Connection to the Chassis Fan
9. If the light still flashes then it could be a power supply or motherboard failure. Try a good know power supply first and if that does not fix the problem it is the motherboard. Also check the back of the tower for 4 lights lables ABCD or 1234.

SOURCE: amber light flashing on my dell 5100, green light on motherboard

The green light just means it is plugged in and getting power.Try pulling the plug, the green light will go out. If you can remove the battery out of the motherboard, "it looks like a quarter", leaveit out for a couple minutes and out it in 'The same way it was" make sure you "look" at it before removing it, it has a little release thatenables it to lock in, or pop out. plug it in and give it a start. It may just be the settings got corrupted, that little battery saves the start settings, once it starts, we can go into the bios if any settings need changing, I'll keep an eye on this post, good luck

SOURCE: Solid Amber light when starting the Inspiron 530

Amber led simplifies a start-up-error. This could be a number of things.

For example:

Check if HDD is connected properly

Check if RAM is connected properly / also if this is damaged your pc wont start.

Check your m/board for any loose capacitors an if they are not popped at the top.

Your LCD screen is properly plugged in to the m/board and if the cables aren't damaged they are very thin and fragile.
also could be the power supply...

When i turn on my Dell Inspiron 2400 Desktop Computer why won`t it start.

Is the computer plugged in to a known good power source with a known good power cord? Also, make sure the power is fully seated on both ends. When you press the power button are you getting any indicator lights? The power button itself has an LED that will be either solid green, blinking green, solid amber, blinking amber, or off. Do you hear any beeps?

Computer shut down continuously during start up...dell

If you've cleaned it internally make sure there are no loose connections you've knocked. Esp where the Hard drive is connected to the motherboard.

Dell inspiron530 won't boot and beeps four times stops and beeps again

The Beeps are a beep code 4 means you have a ram read/write failure. Or a possible motherboard failure in that case you will need to contact Dell or replace it yourself.

Dell dimension 8400 blinking amber light ethernet port

An Amber blinking power button indicates a low voltage problem. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Since you replaced the power supply, my guess is that the motherboard has a problem.
Just to make sure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.

I tried to turn my inspiron 530s on and a solid Amber light come on. I tried to search for an answer but i havent found it. I opened the pc side cover to see if evething were connected and all of the wires...

It needs a new power supply unit (PSU). And, it absolutely won't run without that 4 pin connector. Any standard ATX PSU of at least 250 watts will do. But, Dell usually uses a backward configured power supply so you'll have to purchase theirs. If you have a Dremel with a cut-off wheel, or other means of modifying the case, you can use a standard PSU. If it needs the cut-out, you'll see what I mean when you get the new one in hand.

Dell Inspiron Vostro 530s won't boot.

Hi,

I work for Dell, If the power button led light is flashing amber or amber (the Power supply is faulty) The Yellow light you saw inside the motherboard is the "Flea Light" (that is one way you could check if there is still power on the motherboard). Since the motherboard was replaced there are a few more things to check:

1. Video card (integrated or expansion)
2. Monitor (Make sure it displays self test feature when the cables are removed)
3. Monitor Cables (VGA / DVi)
4. Power Cable on the Monitor (try a different cable)
5. Power Supply (you already checked, but i suspect this is causing the problem)

Hope this helps.
