Took my camera to the Canon Centre in Melbourne Australia ( April 2007). Was told by the Technician that this model was not amongst the ones listed as having a problem. Wouild however have a look but I would be charged for it. Not happy.

I have exactly the same problem with my MV 600i. When I look at Canons support site in Sweden they apologize for problems with some series of ccd:s in this cameras. The solution is to contact the nearest reseller så they can help (without cost). I have not tried that yet but I will!

I have also heard this before about the ccd:s that they don´t last for long in this cameras, didn´t know before I bought it though...:-(

I seem to have the same problem with my mvx250i. The picture failed when recording, so I have a record of the sudden appearance of black bars, then the approx 1/2 picture froze while sound recording continued. I was unable to stop tape transport and had to remove the battery.

Erasing the tape on a sony handycam vision please

Well the cheapest way is to go into record mode, cap the lens with the black lens cap and record a 'black' picture on the tape. This will erase all the pictures on the tape and leave you with a 'black' screen on the whole tape.

LENS CAP WARNING

JVC camcorder no picture on screen remove lens cap and unable to record problem is down to a faulty batch of ccd image sensors (thousands that Sony supplied) and if you phone the JVC servce centre (0845 3108000) and explain the problems you are experiencing its a good chance they will repair it free depending on model (I know because I have done just that and JVC are paying for it to be collected, repaired and returned totally free of charge, and mine was purchased in 2004. What have you got to lose the price of a phone call or about £70 to £90 to have it repaired yourself
Good luck syrups6

Doesn't record

The most obvious problem here would be the Lens Cap. Is it removed? Information on the screen-- time and date, recording speed, etc., indicates the LCD is working-- this is likely a faulty CCD. The CCD is a tiny sensor in the camera that receives the image from the lens, like film in a camera. If yours is a JVC camcorder, check out this link. http://www.jvcservice.com/service/custnoticecamcorder.asp?ReqType=CCD

Panasonic models also have some CCD issues. Hope this helps.
