Coby mp610 2g mtv unknown format

I just bought a coby mp610-2g its a slim mp3 player with an appearance almost like an Ipod.. It has features that allows it to play videos, music, pictures and read ebooks. I converted a video using an mtv video converter and I get an error message " Unknow format" when I try to play the videos in MTV format.. The player also was supposed to support WMV but mine doesn't even recognize it.. Whats wrong with it?

Hey try to get the video file you are converting to .mtv to convert to .mov first.I had the same problems until I tried it that way.Someone else somewhere says mpg is a good format that the converter will read well and convert properly.I never tried it though. However I find that .avi files will give you problems. This is because .avi is a container not a format.

Also remember Youtube videos download as flv files and if you use MediaCoder like I do,to convert from flv to .avi you will have problems because the actual format will be Xvid and the container .avi.

fFor the sys err problem..visit the Coby USA website ...there is a firmware fix there. The actual link is on this site in another Coby mp 610 question.

I hope this works...let us know

Just to add....The .mov file can become very large so I suggest testing with a small video file first.

I Put a Mtv file on my coby MP601 2g and say unknown format, What should I do? and Why video not working?

Hi princessb515...
You are trying to play a video with the wrong video format...you have to change the video format for it to work on your MP3 player...
Check your manual to see what video format it needs...
It will probably be MP4.
Go to this webpage and download your FREE media format converter...

My Coby mp601 8gb won't play the converted mtv videos, says "format not recognized", what's up with that???

Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine thetype of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI andWMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX. If your player cannot play a video then it is anincompatible video file format, then you need to convert that video file to aformat that your MP3 player uses. I put all kind of videos on the coby mp610-2g mp3 but icant watch

Hello,

Your Coby MP-610 Player is capable of viewing MTV file formats with maximum video resolution of 160 x 128.

There are many MTV video converters available on the net but i strongly recommend the E.M. Video Converter by eTinySoft to convert your movies into MTV format and play it on your Coby MP-610.

Don't forget to rate.

I converted my videos using mtv and put them on my coby mpc 7095 gb2 when i go to the video it says unknown format

Hi, unknown format means that your player doesn't support the codec of the video you just downloaded, I suggest to look for your previous videos that plays on your player and look if what type of video it plays, maybe .avi, .wma, .3gp, .mp4, .mpg. Also try to read your manual, coz all the answer is in there. Thanks and hope i can help
