New drives have to be readied for use. Try Start > Run (aka Search in Win 7) type dskmgmt.msc. Look for your drive there. It should be without a drive letter. Right clicking will give you the options of initializing, creating disc partitions, assigning logical drives, and formatting. If this seems a little daunting. A wizard should load. If not there is refresh icon on the toolbar.

The 2nd HDD is in ultrabay adapter. Ultrabay adapter is orginal IBM Part, brand new and exactly for this ThinkPad model. The HDD is TOSHIBA MK2035GSS and working just fine everywhere else. Even BIOS did not recognized the HDD. When I use CD Drive in ultrabay, it is working without any problems.
