SOURCE: Black and Decker 16 in Hedge Trimmer

I use a dremel with a sharpening stone, if u don't have one you can also use a power drill with a small sanding disk (1 inch) and course sand paper (30 or 40 grit). or you can use a bastard file. its too tight to use any kind of angle guide so just take your time and do it by eye. it shouldn't take much to get them sharp enough to do the job, over-sharpening is unnecessary and dangerous, and will make the blades dull faster. sharpen all the free blades, top and bottom, then start the trimmers to advance the blades to free up the sides you couldn't get. i use a light penetrating oil to clean the blades first, then lithium grease spray to lubricate.

SOURCE: Ryobi 18V Hedge Trimmer Blade Question

Just buy a file and push 3 or 4 down strokes down the same slope of the cutter toward the sharp edge. Never file on the flat top of the cutter, only on the slope. Support the frame using a saw horse or pick-up bed. The support makes the file cut the metal better. You can do the same thing with chain saws. You just need the file that fits the cutter. You just hold a consistant angle and count out the same number of strokes. Also, clean out junk between the moving parts, tighten any loose screws, and drop a few drops of 3 in 1 oil between the moving parts. Having things sharpened at a shop is inconvenient and expensive.

SOURCE: Describe your Black & Decker Hedge Hog

You may have a piece of metal between the moving blade and the stationary one. Also the motor may have been at the top of the stroke when it stopped. You may be able to "force" the blade to move a little. This may free it enough to work.

SOURCE: sharpen hedge trimmer blade??

My trick is to make sure that I always lube the blades after each session with a 3/4 engine oil + 1/4 kerosene mix - making sure that every tooth gets a drops or 2, then run it for a seconds to spread the oil & leave the blades overlapping. Doing this allows the blades to self sharpen I've found. 2 stroke oil , unmixed is about the perfect viscosity aswell.

I have a Bosch hedge trimmer AHS 52 LI and yesterday when I tried to fit the battery to the trimmer it would not fit

Make sure that you are using the right battery, positioning it right to match how it goes the receptacle. Last thing is do not be afraid to give it a good push in there. New ones in particular have a firm seating which can take a little bit to get it in.

Maunel starter on my weedeater broke i need a knew one where can i go to get it?

Hi bigmac--
Check your yellow pages for a nearby lawnmower repair shop. They should be able to match an original manufacturer's pull cord to your specific trimmer. If you're adventurous, you can also visit your local home center or hardware store and purchase a generic pull cord. Fitting its length to your machine can sometimes be a challenge, though.
Hope this helps.

I have a 22inch Craftsman Hedge Trimmer, Model No. 315.81591. When trimming a hedge near a chain-link fence, one of the steel links from the fence got caught between the blade guard and the cutter blade. ...

The likely issue is the gear pin has been sheared. The part is no longer available from Craftsman. (P/N from sears: 616255-001)

I had a similar issue with a similar electric trimmer. I removed the old pin and used a split pin and ground it down to the proper size. It's now worked for about 2 years just fine. This requires complete dis-assembly.

Black & Decker Hedge Hog 24-Inch Hedge Trimmer. Motor runs, but blades don't move. Is there a sheer pin that I can replace, or is the thing bound for the dump?

You can definitely pick up a sheer pin for that model. I know ereplacementparts.com has them usually pretty discounted, or just check out a local store, but make sure they are in stock.

How do fit a hedge trimmer attachment to a rbc 40 sb brushcutter ? thanks

This unit was not made to have interchangeable heads. Ryobi makes a hedge trimmer attachment for some of its units that are quick connect.
Otherwise, you may buy this attachment and see if you can interchange the head from the brushcutter to the hedge trimmer. You may find it more work than you want to tackle.
