SOURCE: Problems with formating samsung e250 micro sd card

Did you try to format the card in the device thru Windows Media Player, or Rhapsody? If so, try formatting it thru My Computer instead. My Computer>Device Name>Right Click and select format. It is most likely NOT a virus if you have only put music on the device. It is most likely a corrupt file, or a database error. Best of Luck.

My computer wont format my micro sd card

Is it an SD card or a microSD card? If it's a 4GB (or larger) card then it's neither, but instead an SDHC or a microSDHC.

If the card is an SDHC/microSDHC then your card reader may be only SD-compatible. If this is the case then you can buy an SDHC-compatible card reader and use that. Alternatively, if you want to use this card with some other device, such as a camera or a phone, format the card in that device instead of in your computer.

How to format SDHC card on Canon PowerShot

The PowerShot S1 doesn't take SDHC cards, only CF cards. If you're asking about some other camera, not all of the cameras deigned for SD cards take the higher-capacity SDHC cards.

Sigma 4in1 card reader not working

Try a different / all other USB ports on the computer, and if possible, a different computer if no USB port on your computer works with it. If it still doesn't see the drive, the drive is probably not working. If it does see the device, but is asking for drivers, provide a disk with drivers that came with the reader - or check the Sigma web site for drivers that work with you OS (Windows, Mac, etc.), download and install / extract.

If it sees the device, but doesn't see the memory card, the reader may not recognize the newer, larger capacity memory cards. SD cards are smaller than 4GB in capacity, and SDHC cards are 4GB and larger. Make sure that if you're trying to read an SDHC card that the reader SPECIFICALLY says it works with SDHC cards. Most SD readers can NOT be upgraded with firmware to be able to read SDHC cards - a new SDHC reader is required.

Good luck!

I have an older digital concepts camera and went to buy another SD card. I was told the newer SDHC 4GB card would possibly not be compatible. How can I know?

Look at the specifications page in the manual. If it mentions SD but not SDHC then most likely an SDHC card will not work. Without knowing the model of the camera I can give you neither yes nor no.

Of course, another way to find out would be to try it. You're not going to damage either the card or the camera by trying to format the card. It either works or it doesn't.

I can not get our memory card to format. it says card error. we are using a microSDHC Ccard with adapter 4gb

Is the camera compatible with SDHC? If it can only handle SD memory cards this card is not readable in the device. It will show on the camera whether it is compatible with SDHC. If it doesn't have the logo, take it as the card won't work and you'll need to get a normal SD card.

There is a theoretical maximum of 2GB for SD memory cards, SDHC start at 4GB and go up to 32GB.

Simply put, if your camera is quite old, it won't support SDHC and therefore is limited to a maximum of 2GB memory card.

I bought a 4 gig SanDisk Adapter micro SD, micro SDHC. my Acer Aspire will not recognize the card, i've tried the switch both ways multiple times. how can i get my PC to recognize the card?

My reader will not read mine either. I use a usb key card reader. It used to read the regular old SD cards but the new HC card format wont work. This is due to UDF differences. You can try to reformat the card but then your camera or device may not recognize it anymore. good luck

My 1 gb micro sd card is corrupted and my nokia E63 phone and DELL inspiron is not recognising it

    • 1 If your aim is to repair a corrupted SD card so that you can use it to store files then proceed to step #2.
If your aim is to recover the files on the SD card without erasing them, proceed to step #5.
    • 2 Insert the SD card into a digital camera card slot and choose to format your card. If this doesn't work then move on to the next step...
    • 3 Place the SD card into your computers SD card slot.
Right click on the SD card drive letter IF it appears and choose to "format."
If this doesn't work, proceed to the next step...
    • 4:You will need to go to the website
      http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter/eula/
Here you will download, install, and run the program to format your SD card. This is the most advanced step of the three, but most likely to work 99% of the time.

My Acer 3692WLMi does not read my Fuji 8 gig SDHC card but it will read my Panasonic 2 gig SD card. Can someone give me an answer/solution. Thanks C

While I'm not directly familiar with this Acer model, it looks to be an older laptop. It's almost certain that it was built prior to the SDHC cards being created - a lot of older memory card readers are not able to read the High Capacity (HC) flash cards. I actually own a couple of devices that also would not read the 8GB card.

To test, I would recommend finding a newer USB SD card reader that you could either borrow or purchase (they're usually not too expensive) to see if that reader could get the information from the SDHC card.

If that works, the problem would be that your flash card reader does not support the higher volume cards. This is the most likely possibility.

If it doesn't work, there may be an actual problem with the SDHC card itself.

Hope this is helpful!

Message: Memory Card Error - Memory Card Parameter Error on 4gb SDHC card

I have been rummaging around trying to find two solutions: 1) to get my Toshiba Satellite card reader to read SDHC cards and 2) to get my desktop USB ports to read SDHC cards. While MS offers a hotfix for XP, it does not always work because of the different Chip Sets in computers. I have also read where posters say that the SDHC card works in the compter NOW, but NOW will not work in the camera... and the SDHC card NOW works in the camera but will NOT work in the computer.... I found a tekkie article that may help clear the air... SDHC cards are formatted in Fat32x (NOTICE the "x") and SD cards are formatted in Fat32 (no 'x') and these compatibility problems arise when the user unwittingly or unknowingly RE-formats the SDHC card, either when it is put in the computer and won't read or when it is put in the camera and won't read... but just don't bother to mention that THAT is what they did upon inserting the card and only proceeded to complain about an apparent incompatibility. The camera or computer might even mislead you asking if you want to format the card..... but all is not lost. The Panasonic site gives a program AND a pdf instruction book on How To ReFormat an SD or SDHC card specifying the proper Fat32x or Fat32 format. Hope this helps.
