i have the same problem, for a fair few weeks!! i get the E 3 error and there is no paper jam, the paper however is trying to feed in on the right side (when you face the printer) and the printer sounds as if it is printing buth the paper doesn't feed through.

I've had the same problem for 2-3 months now. I logged on to the Cannon website hoping for a solution but the page with the "answer" never opened. I'm not sure if my computer froze or they just don't have an answer because it happened 3 times. I've checked the notification box below to be contacted when someone has a suggestion. Good luck to us both. Take care

I have changed the inks and not able to print for few times the

paper jammed, then it sounded as though it was printing but

    no paper was going through

There is no jammed paper but still I am unable to print.

Now, whatever button I press there is no respond from the printer.

I sincerely thank you for your help.

Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. In most cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time. Worth a try. I have fixed a number of printers this way saving costly repairs. Hope this helps. Am getng an eror 3 which is regarding paper jam in printer canon140 mp but der is no paper jam in printer.. need help...

Fixing a printer paper jam
When working with any printer it's inevitable that you'll encounter a paper jam. Below are the steps you'll want to follow when this occurs.

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Inspect the location or tray the printed paper ejects to. If the stuck paper is visible manually remove it.*
  3. Remove all paper trays and any paper that may be stuck between the tray and the printer. If the stuck paper is visible manually remove it.*
  4. Open the printer door that allows you access to the printer ink cartridges or toner and look for any stuck paper. If the stuck paper is visible manually remove it.*
  5. Turn the printer back on. If you continue to receive a printer jam error try repeating the above steps again. If issue still persist and you see no paper that is stuck in the printer it's likely your printer is experiencing another hardware issues and we suggest contacting the printer manufacturer for additional assistance and/or repair.

* To manually remove paper pull on the paper with both hands being careful not to tear the paper while pulling it. If you're unable to get to an edge of the paper that allows you to pull it you may need to manually rotate the gears that feed the paper through the printer.

Previously when you had tried to printing any paper the printer has adopted paper jammed error but at this time you have not turned off the system. The printer has configured paper jammed whenever you are trying to print.
It represents that it want to restart the system.
Unplug the printer and reconnect to your system.

MP160 Error E3

I work in a shop repairing these printers and have had a large number with the same fault - displaying E-3 with no jam in the paper path. This is caused by a broken part in the paper feed mechanism that pevents the printer from taking the paper. The part located right at the bottom of the printer looks like two white gears connected together with a central spring. At present I am trying to find a supplier of the spare parts - will check back.

Canon PIXMA MP160 showing paper jam, but none

hi
just recently had these problems
symptoms:
LED flashing E3 code and alarm light was solid. But dissapeared when opened the coved and came back on when closed the cover.
Also the when the cover was open the inks did not slide out to the left and stayed to the right side.
There was no paper jam, but error said paper jam.

Solution:
1. I took a thick piece of paper, from like a paper folder ones, thick enough to go in the printer and not curl up when pushed..
2. turned off the printer and turned it back on.
3, while printer was turning on,and makings sound as it does normally when turning on, I pushed through the piece of paper and the rotors stoped for a millisecond.
4.the rotors started again and pushed out the paper by it self with out my force.
5. I let the printer get started. and then turned it off and then on.
6. this solved all of my problems.
this was the first problem ever with this printer in 3 years.,preety good printer.

good luck...
