Help, Maytag MAH 4000 AWW Thanks for your professional help. I am a plumber. My door IS locked and Locked Light is ON, but my washer will not spin. When I turn the inside tub, there is no resistence. I took off the top panel and there is no sign of burnt elctrical anything. Took off the rear access and found the belt and pulley in good order. Pulled the electric motor and it spins freely. Motor will not run during operation for agitation or spin. I already replaced the wax switch on this fine machine about two years ago. It has been such a sad investment. Please help, Thanks Kevin

Buy an older Maytag or Whirlpool if can't find one that works good buy one that don't spend a few bucks and fix it. It will outlast the new ones with less problems. I had one a few days ago the pump went bad $30 fix . Ran smoother than most newer ones. It was 30 years old..Around here they want 3 or $400.00 To fix the new ones.
I just finished replacing the motor and motor control board, however now the drum spins only for a couple of revolutions then stops then spins again. Almost as if the motor is overloaded.

I have the same problem but my will work fine for three loads then wont go into spin cycle after that I unplug it for a while then it will work but only for three times.
After an apparent complete wash and spin cycle the door was locked. I turned the dial to different settings - no good. Finally, I pulled the electrical plug out of the socket. The 'locked door' light went off and the door unlocked. However, the clothes were still too wet to place in the dryer. The washer will not spin to remove the excess water.
The washer problems you are having are the exact ones I have been having. I have replaced the main board 2 times and the belt as well, but the machine just will not spin all the water out of the clothes. Towels come out so wet I have to wring the water out by hand...a sad investment indeed.
Same problem. In the spin cycle the drum just rotates like the wash mode. No high speed spin. model MAH4000aww
replaced motor control board, motor, wax switch, main logic board. Now unti stops at rinse cycle. Wont fill with water during rinse when timer advanced manually to rinse. will agitate during rinse setting and after 3rd rinse setting it will high speed spin but no water during any rinses.
I junked a Neptune & retrived a 30 year old Maytag which needed a pump.
Pump cost me $20.00 and it runs better than the Neptune & I have no more problems.
