Depending on the model of the computer, somtimes you have to change the pin configuration by the battery. If you have access to another computer, do a google on it first.

How to Break a BIOS Password  for Desktop

The following steps work absolutely fine for a Desktop and are the easiest of all.
Steps:
• Shut down the computer and take out all the plugs connected to electricity.
• Open up the CPU cabinet and locate the CMOS battery on the motherboard (it will be a silver circular battery just like a button cell).

Remove the battery and keep it out for some 2-3 minutes as this will flush out the CMOS memory which stores the BIOS password and all other configurations.

• Now place the battery back and start the computer normally.

Thanking you

The only way to clear the password in BIOS is to open the cover and take out the battery on the motherboard. It is not hard to find on the motherboard, it looks like a watch battery. Take it out, wait about 5 mintues. then put it back in and boot. That will clear the BIOS password.

You can't just remove the battery on a notebook to clear the cmos password, it won't work. This is a special password to keep SOME PEOPLE from stealing a notebook and using it. The password can only be cleared by the manufacturer or the person who placed it there. How do we know someone asking for this fix actually owns the notebook? We don't!

My computer won't boot, I just get a black screen that gives me two options, bios menu and something else f2 or F12

iF you cannot resume with the Operating system..try to go to Bios and set up the boot priority 1 = hard disc,

If this wont still work, your Operatiting system might be corrupted.. go to bios again and set up the boot priority 1 = cdrom.. next, try to insert the installation disc of your OS but do not install it, select option: REPAIR only.

If the cdrom would not boot, unplug the battery of the bios, then put it back again correctly. After this, boot again your cd.. Thanks..! dont forget to comment if you like my post.

Could you please guide me how to remove bois possword for travel mate5730g

Steps for Clearing BIOS Password Check
If users set BIOS Password (Supervisor Password and/or User Password) for a security reason, BIOS will ask
the password during systems POST or when systems enter to BIOS Setup menu. However, once it is
necessary to bypass the password check, users need to short the HW Gap to clear the password by the
following steps:

• Power Off a system, and remove HDD, AC and Battery from the machine.

• Open the back cover of the machine, and find out the HW Gap on M/B as picture.

• Use an electric conductivity tool to short the two points of the HW Gap.

• Plug in AC, keep the short condition on the HW Gap, and press Power Button to power on the
system till BIOS POST finish. Then remove the tool from the HW Gap.

• Restart system. Press F2 key to enter BIOS Setup menu.

• If there is no Password request, BIOS Password is cleared. Otherwise, please follow the steps and
try again.

NOTE: The steps are only for clearing BIOS Password (Supervisor Password and User Password).

Check below for the picture of the HW Password reser gap. The gap that needs to be "shorted" is G77.

I want to enter setup of my hp530 laptop but when i press F10 it shows me stup password please help me out.

It seems that your HP Machine's BIOS is password protected. You can only get the password removed by either entering a correct password or removing the CMOS battery.

The CMOS battery is located inside the system under the HDD. You will have to open the Cover of the System. The battery is wrapped in a insulated plastic cover.
It will be similar to this image:
8603795.jpg

If you are able to access and remove the battery, Keep it removed for atleast 5 - 15 minutes and then replace it. This will reset the BIOS password and you should be able to move into the BIOS (setup screen).

Hope you find this information helpful. Please feel free to contact for any further assistance.

Your comments and ratings are highly appreciated. Please do not forget to leave your feedback and ratings.

Thank you for choosing Fixya.

I just installed a new hard drive into my gateway desk top and put recovery cd in and its says missing operating system

Hello,

You will need to go into the BIOS screen and set the first boot device to CDrom. You can get to BIOS when the machine first boots, as soon as you see writing on a black screen press the bottom to get to setup. When you get to the setup screen look for an option to set boot devices or "boot priority". The first boot device needs to be CDrom and the second device can be Hard Drive. Now save the settings. This time on boot the computer will boot to the CDrom restore disk and you can follow its guides to restore your system.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Reset bios

There's no need to reset your BIOS, only you do is to set in your BIOS Setup to boot priority like for example First Boot Priority is your CD/DVD Rom Drive, if you got some Bootable System Disc then the Second Boot Priority is your Hard Disk Drive. Good luck!
